I got this chin strap for an off-label use, so I wasn’t expecting this product to necessarily work for me. About a year ago, I was forced to give up my old cPAP machine (which I really liked) for a newer and 'safer' one; however, the new one doesn't have a full-face mask like my older machine did. Although I like the partial-face mask I have now, it allows my mouth to gape open numerous times every night. Since I suffer from Sjogren's dry mouth, I am frequently waking up with such a dry mouth problem that it's absolutely painful. Sometimes my mouth is so dry, I cannot even drink water comfortably to 'lubricate' it. I was pleasantly surprised that this chin strap helps prevent my mouth from falling open at night. The only problem is that it's often difficult to keep the partial face-mask solidly on top of the bulky Velcro closure on the chin strap band. If it had been made such that the Velcro fastened off to one side, it would be more functional for this off-label use. Of course, I can't complain about that since the strap wasn't made for that purpose. However, it is making me look around for a chin strap that might work better - something I would never have considered if not for trying this chin strap.
