Great bag for low-voltage tools

Duane Donders Jr.April 29, 2014✓ Verified purchase

As another reviewer noted, this holds everything necessary for low-voltage work. The (smaller, square) electrician's tool bag would probably have worked but would not have had any room to spare once I crammed everything in there. I decided to try this bag and am quite pleased. It took me a while to figure out which pockets fit which tools best, but by the end all the tools from my similar-sized tool box had were loaded into this bag and I had several pockets left over for new/extra tools as well as plenty of space in the main compartment for adding job-specific parts and tools. It was a little smaller overall (narrower) than I expected, but that is great because it doesn't eat up a ton of space in my car. Any larger and it would be awkward to carry with the shoulder strap, so they really got the size of this bag just right. Quality of materials and construction seems to be VERY good, but only time will tell. One exception - the clips for the shoulder strap are cheap. They do not swivel and are spring clip instead of sliding pin clip, which is harder to disconnect and will scratch up the loops if removed frequently. A minor annoyance, but the rest of the bag is so nice... What could be improved? Parts/screw organizer tray is too small, but far better than nothing. It is cheaply made, and the dividers are very loose. I used a drop of hot glue on the bottom edge to secure them in place. Probably will get replaced with the largest one I can cram into that pocket, once I find time to do some shopping. The smaller electrician's bag has a larger organizer hidden in the bottom of the bag. Using that design on this bag would make it the mercedes of tool bags. Ditch the side organizer but keep the big pocket, and add two 7" x 11" organizers underneath the bag, allowing for a center support to keep the bottom stable. I'm sure that would increase the price a bit, but I'd gladly pay another $10 for that feature. Instead, I will have to carry a secondary screw case in the main compartment, which eats up tool storage. On one end of a long side are 6 very small pockets that are 3 wide and 2 deep. I am not sure what tools would fit these pockets well, except possibly regular-sized screwdrivers or pens/pencils/markers? I have a ratcheting driver that takes hex bits (stored elsewhere) so tried putting my small screwdrivers or pick-set in there but that didn't work because the handles were too close to the bag and to each other. I ended up flattening the rear pocket and stuffing 2 each into the front pockets. Either slightly larger or much larger pockets here would be more helpful and not limit my choices. Read more

Great tool bag

Mark BJune 23, 2025✓ Verified purchase

I love this bag. Can easily find my tools easily and has held up better than any other bag I've had with the exception of the metal support rods in the handle. They poke through after some use and I've had to wrap in tape to keep them in place. It's got spots for all the tools I need on a regular basis. Read more

Big things from a little bag

Kurt GustafsonJanuary 29, 2014✓ Verified purchase

The bag is quite utilitarian. I needed something around 24" for the "trunk" of my suv. I have a small speaker box for a 10 inch sub, and then the wheel well arches on top of that. I was previously using a large Dewalt duffel, but it took up half the space back there. Overall, it's a great bag. It was somewhat smaller than I expected. It is fairly narrow, although I suppose if it were wider, once full you couldn't carry it. The main compartment is split in to 3 sections, with the two smaller ones having dividers. I could tell one did, I was hoping one was just open. The size of the inside of the main compartment is approximately 10inchesWx20inchesLx8-10inchesD. I'll re-measure when available, but the jug of premixed coolant fits in there with the handle of the jug resting just under the handle of the bag. On the outside of the bag are a great many pockets. The majority of the smaller ones could have just a tad more space, they're a little shallow, but not so small they grip the blade of say a screwdriver. I didn't have a ton of tools to store though, and I honestly think the more hand tools you put in, the better it holds, because it draws the pockets tighter. I personally didn't have a use for the plastic screw/fuse/parts box, but I did put it in my office to collect the random small things I need when playing handyman on the job. I used that pocket to hold 3 common ratchet straps. Overall, this bag is great, and holds an unbelievably large amount of gear. I wholeheartedly recommend this bag. If you need to carry more than you can fit in this thing, you probably need a toolbox. Read more
