I run HEMA cutting competitions and I recently ran a Bowie knife cutting tournament where the competitors were all required to the same Bowie knife: the Natchez Bowie. I chose this knife because it is capable of cutting mats well, cutting targets usually reserved for sword cutting competitions. These Natchez Bowies performed very well! Definitely well made. Even honing this steel took longer than other blades. (CVM 3p steel hardness), however out of the box I was able to shave my arm with both the false edge and primary. Comfortably heavy but not overly cumbersome. Won't be a great camping blade in my eyes, unless you are used to big blade camping (size... Have I mentioned it's huge??) however I think it will survive the majority of tasks put to it. Read more

After looking over the Natchez Bowie, it is the quality I have come to expect from Cold Steel. I found no defects. even minor ones, in the knife. The only negative thing I can point out is the sheath. Given the cost, there should be a quality leather sheath. I did see a review that mentioned the hand guard being a different color. The Natchez Bowie used to have a brass hand guard, it is now stainless steel, so it is now silver in color. My guess would be that Cold Steel did not update the picture. Read more

What an amazing design, but what a poor craftsmanship. I replaced this knife four times. Twice with Amazon, twice with a different online retailer. Craftsmanship is awful. Grind line a crooked, blades are warped, scratches on the handle. So at the end, I have returned all four knives. Read more

This is a beast of a bowie. As beautiful as it is strong. The CPM 3V blade is 8mm thick and 11.5 inches long. The gents and ruffians of the American westward expansion never imagined a bowie as tough as this. It's truly a thing to behold.
