I had a Colibri pipe lighter for many years. The problem with butane lighters is the use of non-premium butane will eventually clog up the plumbing. I haven't always used good butane so my previous lighter started having problems. Even at max flame adjustment it wouldn't run well and became unreliable. I had to search to find another Colibri of the style I like for pipe smoking. The flame adjustment is great, it is easy to refill, lights easily and is the perfect size for me. The lighter is beautiful and worked fine for the first 1 1/2 months. I didn'y use it for a couple of weeks and when I did it would not light a flame. It stopped working and does not at all work anymore. A very expensive item to be defective in a short period of time. Local Smoke shop experts failed to get it to light, and said it was defective and should be returned. The return window is closed. I made a complaint comment when I returned from the smoke shop, but I have heard nothing back. Read more

I Bought this 'dreck of the dreck' in May of 2022 - it's now Oct30: Here is my end user experience: Don't buy it. If you're gonna make a *click* lighter and put what *used* to be a decent Name on it AND charge $60 - make one that lasts. The lighter always had a poor ignition rate, now it's broken completely - just like those crappy cheap ones do. The flame adjust is PLASTIC held on by a cheap-looking cross-head screw that RUSTED! Definite improvement with the ignition system but the nozzle the flame comes out of looks like a step backwards in quality. Beautiful presentation but I'd rather Colibri spend the money on the quality of the lighter. We will see how it holds up. Read more

I've had my fill of poorly made lighters and decided to chance a better quality. This Colibri lighter does not disappoint. The fit and feel of the lighter is first class. Time has been taken to ensure everything fits together well, the feel is solid. The sight glass for the propane reservoir is very functional. The flame height adjustment wheel is a very nice touch. In use the flame is a "soft flame" as you would get from a disposable lighter but is fully adjustable from extinguished to a good 2-3" flame. The soft flame is perfect for pipes as the typical "blow torch" like lighters push out a bunch of gas which can disrupt the pipe's filled bowl. The ignition button is wide and smooth, easy to operate, and is located far enough way from the flame that you can run the lighter upside down without much worry of getting burned.
