I was looking for a great everyday carry knife for my brother who is more into cowboy action shooting then tactical defense. He is also not a fan of high-priced blades and LOVES the Colt brand. So I thought this would be perfect. The knife itself has a great feel to it. Very robust and has a good weight. It is a real Full-Tang bowie. The Damascus is clearly just a recreation of real Damascus, but I already knew that based on price. It came with an okay edge, suitable for chopping mostly. But a few minutes with the Spyderco knife sharpener and it was a more practical use edge. The leather sheath is surprisingly durable and looks fantastic. I did pull tight the strap at the end and tied it first thing, as it was untied. Maybe a dab of glue if you're really going to be thrashing it. One criticism I do have of the entire package is that the sheath does not hang low enough to where the handle would sit below a normal belt height. For me, that would mean the handle might bother me some when bending over or other tasks. However, if your belt sags--as some cowboys prefer--this point is moot. Read more
I,ve always been interested in Demascus steel, I,m not a fan of stainless. I bear hunt on the ground stalking with bow and black powder in close conditions and like good backup options. This knife has a good balance and heft to it. No I would not go after a bear with it but I,ll feel better haveing it along. Did need to fine tune the edge but it has good bevel and that was short work. Also good grade of sheath that is left handed. didn,t see that before I ordered, but that was a plus becouse I am left handed and now do not need to make a new one that fits me. I have lot,s of knives ( least thats what my wife say,s) but this I,m sure will be one of my most used one,s for work also. ( Most of my work is done in the woods or farming )Should have gone to school ! Read more
Low quality item. Seems like it should be with 20 at the most. I bought it as a gift but was not at all impressed. Read more
This knife is so not worth 60+ dollars. The finger guards had such sharp edges they hurt your fingers. The sheath is left hand only, not ambidextrous. The grind on the blade was way off, I had to use a file to get the edge dead center on the blade. It came extremely dull. The finger choil was ground unevenly and I had to use a file and fix that too. I only gave it three stars because now that I have done all the work for Colt, the knife is ok. It should not cost over 35 dollars. I would not buy it again. Read more
This knife was sharp out of the box although a little more work made it shave worthy. Well constructed sheath and the blade is amazing to look at. It is a real beauty and all who have seen it were wowed. The stag handle is unique to each knife and fills your hand well. I was so impressed that i bought one for my Pastor just before camping season. Although being that I am native I did take the time to fringe it with some quality buckskin that gave it an even more frontier look. Buy one, and you might by two. Oh... The hand guard is as thick as the blade and is Damascus steel too. Read more
It's a beautiful knife for the money, well constructed "But" a little fine finishing is needed, my reasoning for a 4 rating. The edges of the hilt and tang has burrs that I will remove with a fine file (no big deal). The leather sheath is very nice, I would rate that a 5. Small made in Pakistan sticker on blade that I was happy to remove. I am happy with the purchase... Read more
It comes out of the box not very sharp but in good condition. Not the most comfortable to hold but looks good. Sheath is a tight fit and will require a lot of break-in time. Overall for the price I'm not disappointed but if you're looking for a great knife I would go with the KOA bush camp knife. Read more
This honestly, is an awesome knife. Has a great look and feel to it. You really have to hold, and see this knife in person just to understand how great it is. The sharpness of this knife really wasn't great but decent, but I fixed that pretty quick. So you may have to do a little sharpening if you do buy this knife, but honestly, BUY IT!! The stag handle feels really good and natural. Most stag knives I have, have this sort of clear glaze to protect the handle, however this one doesn't. Plus for me! This knife will more then likely be one of your favorite stag knives that you ever own. Read more
