This jacket was the best purchase I have made! At first I thought it was too big and Puffy and would be too hot too wear - well this winter we are having in the Midwest this year make this coat my most valuable possession right now! Have worn it in the snow, and in subzero temperatures with minus double digit wind chills and kept me warm and toasty! Though it appears to be puffy, it can be compressed enough to travel with it on a plane without taking up overhead bin space. Excellent winter jacket for when it's cold and you have to do things like drive, or go in and out of stores. It is also excellent for walking outside in temps in the 15-50 Fahrenheit range. Omniheat insulation makes this jacket very thin and lighter, more freedom of movement. I have had at least two other Columbia jackets and it seems that the Omniheat insulation has only gotten better. I have yet to test the water resistance and I'm sure it will be excellent at least in the first two years of seasonal use. This jacket could do with an internal zippered pocket or an internal pocket at all. There is a large left breast vertical zipper pocket that will hold a lot. The hand warmer pockets also zipper so , safe to store items as long as you remember to zipper them closed. Excellent standard for Columbia hood velcro adjustments and hood bungee cords make it easy to dial in the perfect fit. The jacket for me sits to where it meets the top of my thighs at at 5'11.5" and 285lbs the XXL works well using the hook and loop cuff adjustments. The hooks on these jackets do tend to catch on sweaters, and even on the sleeves of the jacket itself, I know this as I have seen the issues with my , now retired Jacket and in just over 6 years of use I have wear on the sleeves and many shirts that got bit by the hook side of the closure flat the runs along the centerline over the zipper. It seems to me there should be a softer hook side or a way to hide it better especially when say walking in a store where you cannot keep buttoned up (hello Omniheat).
