I enjoy the soft black Lycra fabric of this dual-gel wrist and thumb ice pack, along with its interesting two-layer design. The ice pack fits snugly, which is both convenient for feeling the cold therapy -- but also trying at times when it seems “too cold” to me. I learned to take this pack out of the freezer early and let it “de-thaw” for about 10 minutes or so, which takes the edge off the bitter cold. Or I liked removing the ice pack and starting to wear it with the cool fabric glove alone, adding the ice pack later when I wanted a cooler sensation. If you like serious cold on your skin, then you may adore this product. Although the fabric appears ultra soft, I still found myself fidgeting a lot, taking the gel pack on and off regularly, while moving it around to try to get more comfortable. I ordered this to explore tools to help with hand injuries immediately after tripping over some rocks, while hiking with my dog in the mountains. I had experienced resulting swelling and pain around my wrist on the radius end (thumb side) in addition to an elongated bruise along my ulna (pinkie side). After learning that I had a fracture of my distal radius, I became aware of how common radius bone injuries were. In that light, I think I understood a bit more why this product may have been designed with the extra ice area, falling primarily under the thumb side of the wrist. I mistakenly had believed upon ordering, that the insertable ice pack area fully wrapped around 360 degrees, which was not true. Initially, I was sad initially that there was an approximately 2” x 7” glove zone that does not allow for the insertable ice pack, under the pinkie / ulna side. I was glad, though, to discover I had an option of inserting the ice pack vertically or horizontally, for a slight bit of different coverage. I found it tricky sometimes to insert this ice pack and agree it is better to insert it before freezing. Overall, this seems to be a neat, elongated, thoughtful double layer ice pack, which turns out to be plenty cold, soft, and easy to turn on its slender side, slipping into the freezer in between other packages. I think some strengths of this product include the extra insertable ice pack, which concentrates more so along the thumb side of the wrist, as well as the thumb coverage itself. A main drawback could be considered less ice for the ulna bone for ulna injuries or pain. I believe there are so many situations that may be served by this interesting pack, such as tendinitis, arthritis, sprains, injuries, sports practice, and general non-specific wrist discomfort. I think the more tools we have, the better we are situated for tackling any challenge that may arise for these very critical joints. Read more

I had surgery on my wrist a few years ago (ulna osteotomy), and it still acts up and gets sore easily. I normally will put on a brace and just deal with it by putting an ice pack on it from time to time. This ice wrap from comfitech is perfect since I can simply leave it on while I’m working at my desk. No having to hold an icepack onto my wrist, which prevents me from typing. The quality is great, I went into this knowing that I’d be happy with it, because I’ve been a comfitech customer for maybe over a year now. Their gel/ice pack combos are a thousand times better than any of the competitors that I used to buy at the drugstore. They last forever, the ones I would get at the drugstore are meant to be reusable, but I always had to replace them after maybe a few months. All of my comfitech products look and perform like day one. The wrist gel ice wrap was cool out of the box, I can use it even without the included ice pack- but it’s good to have the ice pack because it adds some bulk around the wrist area, so the wrap sits closer to my wrist. I actually wear mine backwards, I put my pinky through the thumb opening, that way the ice pack is against my ulna. For reference, I chose the large, my wrist measurement is 6.5 inches, mid forearm is 8.5 inches. At first I thought that the negative space between the wrap and my wrist was concerning, but I realized at least for me, that’s not a problem while I’m working because I’ll have my wrist against the keyboard rest, which will press the wrap against my wrist. And the Gell wrap acts as a cushion too, which adds in the relief it brings to my wrist. So for me, it works well. I know I wouldn’t have been able to size down, because it would have been too tight around my forearm. There is only one thing that I suggest, something I always wished would change since my very first ice wrap, I wish that the plastic resealable bags that comfitech advises us customers to store the wraps in while freezing were of a thicker quality. I’ve replaced all of the resealable bags that my wraps came in due to them ripping from use. But, other than that, top notch ice wrap that's well worth its price. Read more

This wrist ice pack works really well and gets impressively cold, which is exactly what you want for effective relief. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, so getting started was simple. The pack is soft and flexible, so it comfortably wraps around the wrist and helps relieve pain without feeling stiff or bulky. Even when fully frozen, it molds nicely to the area, making it very comfortable to wear. The only minor challenge I had was getting the ice pack into the sleeve—it took a little effort at first—but once it was in, everything worked perfectly. After freezing, it stayed cold for about 30 minutes, just as advertised, and maintained a strong, consistent chill the whole time. I’ve been using it regularly, especially when I have soreness, and it’s been incredibly helpful. My husband uses it too after lifting heavy trays at work, and it’s been great for him as well.
