The best MagSafe wallet?
I hope they’ve got a patent on the spring system they’re using. I was looking for a MagSafe wallet that doesn’t deteriorate because it’s made out of glue, fake leather, or elastic, and this is the top seller in that category. I think it’s also one of the only in that category. That said, there are things that can be done better; The back panel is not magnetic (just the non-clip face that has their logo on it) so, it’s hidden which I can appreciate the minimalism in that, but why not use another magnetic metal panel? Instead they’ve included a magnetic sticker, which is alright but not ideal. I say that because I use magnetic phone mounts in my vehicle to charge or at very least, mount my phone. Because they chose a non-magnetic back side, I have to take the wallet off to mount the phone. The inside of the panels are a very smooth and rounded out plastic so your cards should be protected in theory. What I’m not yet used to is the fan method. Because they built the wallet to fan the cards out left, there’s no support for the cards on the left side/spring system to keep them in place, but I don’t see this as a significant problem because the springs keep the cards fairly snug. The money clip can be removed/put back on if desired. The capacity is a lot, which is great, but it only feels normal to me carrying 5 cards (2 metal 3 plastic) and 3 thinner insurance cards in it. Anything more makes it feel like it’s in the way (on my phone. I’m sure that’s not a problem for people using it without mounting to a phone). My phone case is an iPhone 16e QuadLock case, and the adhesion is very strong to where it’s easier if I slide the wallet off over pulling it off. All for 1/9th the price of a MagSafe Ridge wallet made with degrading elastic. The last thing I’ll mention is this wallet doesn’t get stretched out like the others do. If you ever consolidate to 1 or 2 cards, it will retain its retractability. My recommendations for improvements would be to add a finger cutout in the bottom of the wallet so the cards pop out the top, make the finger cut out at an angle so the cards fan easily, put springs into the left side of the wallet to maximize card security, make both panels magnetic (and conductive so a phone can be wirelessly charged while the wallet is mag mounted), and make the plates thinner so it feels normal to contain extra cards. Other than that the build quality’s really, next to none and I expect to have it until their next design. Hopefully they can use some of these suggestions so I’ve got a reason to buy. I looked at hundreds of MagSafe wallets before buying this one and it’s just, the only one of its kind that was worth its cost and then some. If you’re not a frequent physical card grabber, don’t mind taking it off for mag mounted wireless charging, and can live with putting your non-essentials in a bill fold, this is a no brainer because it will last forever.
