I'm 5'4" and 182 lbs, and ordered a size 34 waist x 29 length. The waist fits well, the expandable band gives just enough flex without looking like something your grandpa would wear. The 29 length is perfect for my height; doesn't bunch up at the ankles. The fabric is 100% polyester and definitely on the thicker side compared to typical dress pants. I almost always buy my husband dress pants that are cotton or at least a cotton blend. I took a chance on these because I have gotten clothes from this brand before and they were decent enough quality. Although the polyester fabric is a little "shiney" to my eyes, it does have a nice thick weight to it and is soft. My husband really likes that the black material isn't thin or see-through. The waist has hidden elastic strips inside the band which he also says adds to the comfort of the pants. The button in the waist is a little difficult to unbutton but will likely get easier the more he wears them and uses it. I ordered his usual size, 30W x 28L. They seem a little longer than usual but not too long as to be a problem. The waist fits fine, and because of the elastic there is more stretch to the waist than with just a normal waist band. Keep in mind the pants are a "classic fit" and have pleats in front so are looser through the thighs than many modern fit dress pants. The pants come with extra buttons, in two sizes. Although I prefer natural fibers over synthetic and am not really a fan of the slight sheen to the fabric, these aren't necessarily defects, just personal preference.
