Great sunscreen! We needed reef safe sunscreen for a trip to St. Thomas and bought multiple brands of lotion and sprays to try for the week and this was by far our favorite. We were able to fly it in our luggage under the plane (in a ziplock bag), sprayed clear, didn’t stain clothes or suits, and wasn’t greasy or heavy. I bought the 3 pack for 2 people on a 10 day holiday. The spray comes out fast and a lot gets wasted. We finished the 3 bottles about halfway through the trip. I should’ve read the label and I should’ve studied them more to see what comprises This product and I didn’t. This product contains these harmful chemicals. Harmful chemicals to avoid: Oxybenzone and Octinoxate: These are common chemical UV filters that have been shown to damage coral DNA, cause deformities, and increase coral bleaching. Octocrylene: This chemical can also contribute to coral bleaching and reduce the fertility of marine organisms. Other chemicals: Some sunscreens also contain parabens, phthalates, and other chemicals that can negatively impact marine life. What to look for in reef-safe sunscreen: Mineral-based sunscreens: Look for sunscreens that use zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide as active ingredients. These minerals create a physical barrier on the skin, reflecting UV rays without being absorbed into the water. Non-nano mineral particles: Make sure the zinc oxide and titanium dioxide particles are not nano-sized. Nanoparticles can be absorbed by corals and other marine organisms, potentially causing harm. "Broad spectrum" protection: Choose sunscreens that offer broad-spectrum protection, meaning they protect against both UVA and UVB rays.
