I got this because I own a nursery and use hand pruners and loppers regularly and with all the use they dull quickly sometimes. Since using this I'm very impressed. It only takes me around 30 seconds or less to put a nice new edge on my pruner blade. I also like the size. I can keep it on me while I'm working and can sharpen my blade as needed. I love this little sharpening tool. I use it on scissors, my can opener, my gardening snips, anything with a sharp edge (except my knives). Very simple to use. Very small so I tucks away nicely. The red handle makes it easy to find. Read more
For under $10, this should not be overlooked. It is much less aggressive than using a file to sharpen pruning shears, loppers, or weeding hoes. I was surprised to find that the tool has directionality, which matters when using it. It did not deburr my blades, but it did reshape and flatten chips on a pair of pruning shears that had been misused as metal shears. In fact, it even sharpened that metal shear. This takes the burs right off, it is a very hard material like a cutting bit in a machining tool. Follow the instructions and don’t overdo it or you’ll wear your blade out. This is a good tool, but you must learn to use it correctly. It only takes a couple of pulls. Read more
