There are a variety of colors to choose from, including various shades of several colors which allows your child to begin exploring the nuance of color within things (e.g. The sky is blue, but what kind of blue? The ocean is blue, but is it the same blue as the sky?) Both of my children (7 and 4) use these pencils daily, they are their go-to art supply. The colors themselves are bright and vivid. The pencil core quality is great. They aren’t too waxy like other ones can be which makes the color transfer lighter and not as bright. They are also not too soft. Sometimes colored pencil cores so too soft that the pigment smushes around the page. These Crayola pencils are perfect. Works well, good quality, but box was not sealed in any way and crayons had come loose inside the Amazon package (recyclable paper envelope, no padding). Comes presharpened, but a few of the tips broke because they had come out of the Crayola box. None of the crayons snapped in half though, which was good. Note that the crayons are not organized in any way inside the box, which kind of drove me nuts. Spent about 2 hours organizing them into (the closest approximation) of rainbow order. Read more
