The Best Quality Best Designed Tool Bag So Far
I carry a tool bag every day for HVAC work. So, my review will be with that kind of work in mind. If you look at the pics, I emptied the Klein backpack and put it all in the smaller, lighter Crescent 14" bag. Everything has a slot and fits real well, with everything at your fingertips. I must admit it's a little more cramped, but the organization is so much better it easier to get to stuff. One side has pockets of all kinds and sizes, and the other side has a bit larger pockets and has just a bit more room or stuff in the bottom. The whole bag weighs quite a bit less than the backpack and is actually easier to carry. I like the two sided setup as it makes finding tools easy without have a ton of different compartments to search through. The shoulder strap rides higher than a normal bag and the whole thing carries more like a backpack, very nicely done. As to the quality of construction, well I read the previous reviews and I'm not sure what happened there. Some complained of the stitching and rivets being low quality and poor workmanship. Well, you got a completely different bag than I did, is all I can say. The stitching is first class and strong. The rivets are perfect. This bag is easily as well built, or better than the Klein bags. It is just as sturdy and uses the same heavy material. I can't imagine having any problems with it falling apart. I'm kind of middle of the road, I take care of my tools and bags, but I don't baby them, so they get plenty of use. I doubt that I can trash it. I would put the quality above Milwaukee, CLC etc and at least as good or better than Klein. The bag has a fantastic plastic bottom that not only keeps things dry but also makes the bag sit up straight no matter what you do in the bag. One of my pet peeves is a bag that constantly falls over or slouches with the load of tools, this one is sturdy, and sits up strong, like a bag should. There are other well built bags that cost four times what this bag costs and I've always thought they were grossly overpriced and far too heavy, but they are built like tanks too. So, for my money this is a better thought out bag, with just as good quality and for a whole lot less. Believe me, I'd carry anything I want, and this is it, til someone invents a better mousetrap. UPDATE 4/17/2022 After carrying this bag daily for well over a year, it's still as good as new and I'm still liking it. I have only made one change to it and that was to cut the keeper nylon on the side of the bag with all the tools, so that it would open wider and lay flatter when I'm working. It gives me somewhere to lay things and makes getting to the inside bottom of the bag much easier. The web that keeps the bag from opening all the way is made of the same heavy nylon as the rest of the bag, and I just don't have enough life left for it to wear in and open as fully as I would like, so I trimmed it out. Other than that one change the bag is everything I could hope for. I can't bring myself to carry open top bags, as too much dirt and debris will get it and when it rains they hold water, not good. So, it's a closed bag for me. I can't tell you how many times I've finished a job and closed up the bag to run back to the truck in the rain and this one works great for that.
