This is a perfect gooseneck clamp/stand for my iPad Pro. I love that it holds the tablet firmly in the corners, so that no matter how you spin it, it won't fall out and break/crack the screen. It's also deep enough where you don't have to remove any case you have on your tablet. It's easy to install and use. The long gooseneck was a huge plus for me, as I attach it to the rear of my 2nd tier keyboard stand, and I need the length and sturdiness to have it swing around and "sit" flat on my keyboard to be able to read what I need during a performance. It disassembles easily for packing into my gear. I'm really pleased with this product, and I feel sure I will have bought many a new tablets before I would need to replace this mount. Read more
I was worried this 'goose-neck' tablet computer stand might be too light and too short. I was wrong on both counts. The thing is built like a M1A1 Abrams tank. The entire thing is solid-solid-solid, from the adjustable tablet holder, through the adjustable 'goose-neck', down to the versatile clamp that will secure it to table top or a tubular device. I wasn't certain the 'goose-neck' would be long enough for my limited mounting options. I'm putting this on a recumbent cross-trainer that has both a water bottle holder and the machine's digital display/controller directly in the way but the 'goose-neck' is more than long enough to clear all the obstacles. This is about the only device I've seen that had a mounting option of both rectangular for a table top or circular for a tube frame (wheel chairs, bicycles, exercise machines) The tubular frame on my commercial grade cross-trainer is larger than the average and I was concerned that the adjustable mounting clamp jaws wouldn't open wide enough. There is a heavy handle screw adjustment to open & close the jaws so I loosened it to what I thought was just enough to encircle the large tube frame....I missed by a mile. I had to retighten the clamp multiple turns to get it back down the size needed. Once tightened it is "bank vault" secure. My only caveat - The Manufacturer provides 3 self-adhesive foam pads of varying thickness to "take up the slack" between the back of your tablet computer and the "front" of the mounting frame. Tablets have gotten so thin lately (mine is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S4) that all three pads combined weren't thick enough to adjust for the "slack". I had to manufacture a 4th pad from some foam (thankfully there are foam packing sheets inside the box that work wonderfully for this....just cut it to size with a scissors). I opted for the lockable security cable but haven't used it yet. It seems to be heavy enough and up to the task. A bit "pricey"? Yes, but worth every dime paid for the outstanding quality, security and mounting options. Just buy it...you won't be sorry. Read more
This goose neck seems to be very heavy-duty and strong, however the clamp is a bit slippery. I’ve tried it on multiple surfaces and I came to the conclusion that this device will only clamp down a very specific thick surface. If your planning to use it on a computer desk or bed side that is not so thick, it will NOT clamp properly, instead it will slip and slide as you adjust it. This is due to the rubber material they are using within the clamp that is shaped as grooves to increase the grip, but instead it just causes the clamp to slip, this is especially true on wood. Had it been made of pure steel on the grooves, the clamp would have been much more secure (but I can see why they chose rubber because they wanted the clamp to hold onto metallic surfaces like metal bars). Also there is something else that contributes to the lack of clamping quality. I’m referring to the way the clamp tightens up, instead of the bottom clamp closing symmetrically to the top part like most clamps, it closes at a angle the tighter it gets, as a result it limits the compatibility to most surfaces. This forces you to go out and buy a wood block to accommodate the lack of thickness so that the bottom and top clamp are symmetrical and have a firm clamp. You’d also have to make sure to get the right measurements, otherwise it will move all over the place and become unstable from each time you make adjustments, which could cause the clamp to collapse on itself and risk your tablet becoming damaged. Overall I’m dissatisfied with this product. It has potential, if the clamp had a better mechanism and grip, it could have been easily the best one out there. Everything else about this gooseneck is absolutely solid and I can tell it can hold any tablet without it drooping or wobbling. It’s just sad that the clamp became its downfall. The media could not be loaded. This review if for the model with security. The gooseneck and clamp are both very sturdy and of reasonable quality, but it is a different story for the gripper. The new iPad 12.9 (2018) is not sitting properly as the gripper is not holding tight. The attached movie shows the iPad wobbling in its place although the gripper holding the iPad is as tight as it would go (no more clicks when pushed further). The two images are of the iPad corners held by the gripper, the upper one is on the edge and the iPad may fall out with use. There seems to be a design issue, probably not properly calculating the weight of the larger iPad. The gripper is expected to hold the iPad tightly and comfortably, but this is not the case as the rubber is very slim and not effective with gripping the iPad. I contacted customer service but they have no clue and appear to be sales staff and unfamiliar with the product, so offered no solution. Updated on 9 October: The guy at customer service reached out and provided an additional device with an enhanced redesigned gripper (cost of device and shipping on them). The new gripper offers the same functionality but provided much firmer and stable holding of the iPad. Problem sorted, after not so little pain though. Read more
