I have been curious about oils to benefit from and recently read about cyperus rotundus oil. I was hoping this oil might help sooth my skin but also improve my wait between shaves. The ingredients are actually a fantastic blend that I am happy about. Great for soothing skin after shaving. The oil is very typical of an oil so it is slippery. Only a small dose is essential to cover shaved areas. The dropper works well and isn't messy. The bottle is a nice glass amber. Was a bit oily to the touch. Even if this does not slow growth in the end result for me I think there is benefits from the other ingredients. I do enjoy the aroma, which is pleasant and spa like in a relaxing aromatherapy way. Often times I try oils that are not as pleasant aroma wise as this one is. Instructions say to cleanse and prepare skin before massaging gently until absorbed. Absorption was typical, relatively quick without feeling overly greasy. I used on my underarms, bikini and lip areas with no reactions. I think this is probably a suitable medium to small bottle intended for facial hair or small areas like I mentioned. Easy to apply. A great value for the price since there are other beneficial oils and ingredients. Read more
The media could not be loaded. I have been testing this Cyperus Rotundus Oil for a little over two weeks. Because a product like this requires patience and time, I wanted to do a controlled test to see if it lived up to the hair-inhibiting claims, so I used it on one underarm while leaving the other untreated to compare. First Impressions: Packaging & Presentation The item arrived safely packaged with no tears or broken parts. The packaging is bright and vibrant, which was really eye-catching, and the bottle has the same coloring as the box so it’s easy to spot. It is a large bottle, so it has a good amount of product in it for the price. Scent & Texture The oil has a very distinct apothecary-type scent. I smelled woodsy notes, a little bit of pine, some lemon, and a slight pepper smell. It’s a fresh, earthy smell that is not too strong or overwhelming. • Consistency: The oil itself is a nice medium between thick and thin. It’s clear with no debris or imperfections. • Application: I put some on my hand and then used my fingers to rub it into the desired spot. It goes on smoothly and blends in well. You don’t need much product as it goes a long way. • Absorption: It absorbed nicely into my skin. After a bit of time, there was no oiliness or staining on my clothes. • One Note: My only complaint is that it did give me a slight "BO" smell after sitting on the skin. It wasn’t overwhelming, and once I used deodorant, it was fine, but it was something I noticed. The Two-Week Test: Shaving vs. The Oil It is important to note that the product description is a little misleading. It doesn't specify on the front that the hair needs to be completely removed by the root (waxing/plucking) for the oil to work properly. Since I was unaware of this, I used it after shaving with a 4-blade razor. I have dark, thick hair under my arms, and because the razor cuts so close to the skin, I typically have problems with ingrown hairs and marks. Even though I didn't remove the hair by the root, I noticed several positive changes: • Skin Health: The health of my underarm improved significantly. The skin looked healthier, and the pigment even lightened a little bit. • Irritation: My underarm didn't look irritated, and the hairs were coming in more even with fewer ingrowns. • Growth Speed: I did notice a slightly slower growth in the underarm where the product was used compared to the untreated side. Final Verdict The price point for this is in the middle. It is hard to say if it truly "works" to fully stop hair growth yet, as that requires a lot of patience, but the positive outcomes for my skin health have been worth it. I believe this could prove to work even better when the hair is removed at the root. Given the positive effects I've seen in just two weeks, I would still recommend this to someone looking for a natural product like this—it's worth it to give it a try and see if it works with your body hair. I've never heard of an oil having the ability to inhibit hair growth but as wild as it sounded to me I decided to give this product a try. First off, it's a small bottle so the huge claim had me questioning, "does a little go a long way?" I assume that would be the case. I personally followed direction as intended and yes, it is an oil so it doesn't take much to really smooth out a larger area BUT it's still a small bottle. In order for this to work the formula would have to be extra concentrated or a drop here and there is all that is needed. Well, I applied this product in the areas where I really wanted growth reduction but could not do so liberally so does that change the outcome? I don't know. Also, the directions specify that this needs to be applied twice daily. That's a lot when you consider the coverage area every single time and what comes in the bottle. But again, it's an oil, not a lotion, so oils tend to require small amounts. It's a good thickness and consistency. Not too watery like. Not so thick that it's a challenge to apply. It's what I assume is 'just right'. I felt it fine on my skin and application was easy if not a bit annoying to do twice a day. I didn't want to apply clothing right away. I didn't want anything to hinder the magic that is supposed to happen so I made sure to really penetrate the skin and rub it in thoroughly but also had to sit around at home a bit bare so as not to disrupt the process. The absorbency is nice. I actually really liked that. Does not feel sticky or weighs my skin down. It's great penetration, soothing, and actually made my skin feel moisturized and soft. The smell is pleasant as well. Nothing artificial smelling about it. It's light and decadent. So the claims. Well, sadly, the growth is still there. I figured it would be. Maybe I need to try more of this product. Sometimes with other products it requires consistent usage over a longer period of time and this could be the case but I have not noticed anything at all so I don't know what to make of that. I will say I'm not mad that I ended up with a great moisturizer that makes my skin feel luxurious and soft and lovely smelling. I'm not mad at the idea that since using this product my skin is hydrated. Now the price to me is steep especially since it has not done what it claimed it would do BUT if the price was lowered this would be amazing for skin hydration and pampering. Read more
