Excellent carry on bag

Awesome carry on bag. I love the second zipper for extra room, it really makes a difference in the amount of stuff that I can pack! It doesn't have the 4 rotating rolling wheels so maybe isn't as easy to use as others, but for a basic, quality travel bag, it's perfect and so cute. I can fit a weeks worth of clothing, toiletries and a pair of shoes in there without expanding the extra zipper. Read more

Strong sturdy wheels!

I took this on a four-month trip traveling by bus and train through Spain, Morocco, and Eastern Europe. It is, without comparison, the best suitcase I've ever owned. First, there's the wheels. There are only two of them, not four, and they are recessed into the body. That gives you more packing space on the bottom (to fit into carry-on size limitations). As the wheels don't stick out they are protected from damage (unlike on four-wheel models). I've twice had wheels break on four-wheel models and would never buy one again. And these wheels are strong. I'm cheap and I don't like taking taxis if I can avoid it. Numerous times I walked a kilometer or more from a bus terminal to my hotel wheeling this bag through cobblestone streets and even once down a gravel alley. Other than a little wear on the surface the wheels are as good as new. If they can handle what I put them through they will last forever being used on smooth airport floors. And if a wheel does break, I see Dakine sells replacements which are easy to put on. If not expanded, the bag just fits the maximum carry-on size for American Airlines and most other US-based airlines. I took the bag as a carry-on and then expanded it to fit additional purchases as I bought stuff. When expanded it can get 'front-heavy' and tip forward. The remedy is just to pack with heavy stuff on the bottom. Read more

Very spacious roll-aboard, with great expansion [from 42L to 57L]

And the black is very inexpensive - but, it's black. On the inside, 2 compartments kept separated by a web screen. 2 zippered pockets on the outside, one a padded laptop carrier. Dakine quality, easy rolling wheels. And even a space to put your drink while you are waiting. Read more

Internal zipper with no pull and upside down

Not pleased with this purchase. Normally we like Dakine bags, but one of the internal zipper pulls was not properly installed on this bag. Did not realize this until packing for a trip and too late to exchange and find a new roller bag in time. Bummer.. Read more

Odd interior

I love the look of this bag and I love Dakine products so I was quite disappointed that the interior is divided so inefficiently. The hard side half, that has easy access, is very small with limited space due to the handle’s grooves. The soft side part has a mesh cover with a zipper that is hard to pack into. It’s not just open area. This is the expansion area that I will always have to leave expanded to get enough room. It seems backward. I bought this piece online without seeing the interior. I don’t like the way it’s designed on the inside. Read more

This bag holds A LOT

I bought two bags to compare and this one was the bigger of the two so I decided to keep it and return the smaller one. I just got back from a three week trip overseas and I loved this bag! I traveled around a lot, not staying more than 2 days in any one location, so I packed and unpacked many times. I stuffed this thing, using packing cubes (not compression ones either) and there still seemed to be more room. The best thing I found, was that the zipper zips in the middle, halfway between the lid and the bottom when it's completely full, so I can use the packed lid side to compress on top of the already packed bottom when I need to smoosh it to get the zipper to close. This made closing the bag so much easier. I hope that makes sense. Sometimes the lid is just a covering over the bottom and you only pack in the bottom, but this bag has lots of packing room on both the lid side *and* the bottom side. I didn't try to carry it on the airplane tho. I checked it and it came thru just fine. The wheels were much better than I expected. I never used the cup holder because I always had another little bag on top of this suitcase, so the cup holder is not a huge value add. Read more
