I recently installed theDashCam in my car, and I’m thoroughly impressed with its performance. The installation was incredibly simple. The camera stays in place even on rough roads. This is a nice dash cam for the price. The installation was relatively easy so long as you use the tool. Otherwise, it could be challenging. Also, the app to connect to the dash cam takes some work. My recommendation is to change the SSID and password, not only for security, but it seems to make the app work better (in regards to connecting to it). It works well and allows to adjust for video time (1, 2, 5 minutes) as well as disable audio notifications (boot up/down). There is a learning curve with this (and any other dash cam). This is not a fault of the dash cam, rather understanding the technology and use cases. We own a less expensive dash cam and we're not happy with the quality. This one is great. Even at night it gives clear images. I've downloaded the loops to my desktop and you can easily read license plates of the vehicles around you. It sets up easily and the instructions are clear. It comes with a 78 page book written in clear English and covers just about any situation you will come across. I would suggest buying several 128GB micro SD cards. In 4k mode, you get 10 hours of video saved before it starts looping. We take long trips and like to be able to save some of the previous day images. We just pop in a new card every morning. You can buy up to 512GB cards which hold 37 hours of video, but they are expensive and if something goes wrong, or you lose them - it hurts. One of the drawbacks is that you have to have power supplied to make it work. A USB adapter cable is included. There is no battery. If you want to use the parking monitor mode, you have to order a kit to hard wire the unit. They don't recommend that you wire it to an outlet that is always on - it will drain your battery if it's left in normal record mode. Also, they say it is normal for it to get hot, but if you're parking on a summer day in a place like Arizona or Florida and leave it on the windshield, it gets very hot and there is a thermal protector that will shut the camera off until it cools down. We put it in the glove box on days like that so we can use it right away. We have the recording loops set to 10 minutes. The other options are 1, 3, and 5 minutes, but we found it's easier to view a whole days worth at the 10 setting. There is a button that will save and protect the current loop in case there is an accident or something you want to keep. All in all, we are totally pleased with this unit. Read more

Solid 1/5 stars for this product. Ordered 2 of these, one for each car, and I regret it. 1. The latching part that connects the suction cup to the camera sucks. It doesn’t snap in or anything, so from vibrations from driving, it tends to fall off of the suction cup mount. Mine falls off at least twice per drive. 2. Overall quality for all parts feel very cheap. There are 3D printed items I own that feel better quality than the camera itself. 3. Constant issues, such as the camera consistently restarting, requiring you to perform the seller’s troubleshooting steps over and over. 4. The suction cup on one of the 2 I ordered came broken. 5. Connecting to the camera’s WiFi sucks. The included user guide states that iPhones don’t need to turn off cellular data to connect, but I couldn’t connect to the camera WiFi without doing that. 6. Navigating through the camera menu is clunky, as there are about 12 items and you can only click either up or down. 7. The only reason this product is deserving of 1 star and not 0, is because in the off chance that the camera works properly and isn’t falling off of the suction cup mount, the quality of recorded footage is actually pretty good.
