My first impression of the fixture was that it was cheaply made and flimsy - definitely built to a price point. I almost returned it. After taking a second look, I realized that it seemed to be well designed and had a pleasant look. Once installed, my impression improved further. The fixture is bright, the changeable color temperature is handy, and it looks great on the ceiling! Installation was a little challenging. My ceiling box was not the standard 4 inch round but a 3 inch round. None of the fixture's mounting options would work with the 3 inch box. After scratching my head, I realized that the fixture had the provision to use a threaded crossbar in the box and a 2 inch threaded nipple (like used with a pendant light) to secure it. I have been replacing some old walkway lights at the church with these as the old ones fail. The old ones use 11-watt CFL bulbs and put out a very modest amount of light. These LED fixtures are brighter and in my opinion improve the nighttime safety where I have installed them. From what I can see, this fixture has two sets of LEDs on the circuit board: a set of "warm" ones and a set of "daylight" ones. The 5-position switch for color temperature seems to operate as follows: 2700K: warm LEDS on, daylight LEDs off 3000K: warm LEDs on, daylight LEDs at half 3500K: warm LEDs on, daylight LEDs on 4000K: warm LEDs at half, daylight LEDs on 5000K: warm LEDs off, daylight LEDs on I set ours at the middle (3500K) position, which I assumed would be brightest. The light at this setting has a daylight character to it, particularly in contrast to the warm CFL bulbs in the old fixtures. This is just fine for us, and again the improved light level seems like a good thing for safety reasons. These fixtures a light in weight and would not present an undue weight load on a ceiling where mounted. Removing and replacing the translucent cover is very easy using the levers on four sides.
