I’ve been using this Designs Sports collagen protein powder for about three weeks now and I find it to be an excellent product with an impressive combination of collagen types which is far superior to many products on the market. The first thing I noticed when I opened the canister is that it was filled almost to the top. I seem to be getting less and less of another collagen powder I’ve been using which lately seems to be only about two thirds of the way full. The Designs Sports is a very fine powder with no visible specks. It dissolves easily; instantly in hot beverages and it is completely tasteless and odorless. As for the price, I’ve compared the size and amount of the product to the other one I’ve been using. The Designs Sports comes with a rather large scoop. One scoop of the other collagen protein powder I’ve been using is equivalent to half a scoop of the DS. So, with just half a scoop a day (which in my case may more cost effective), I’m still getting the same benefits, most notably less pain in my muscles and joints and stronger nails (I’m not sure I can tell if the benefits to my skin are from my skincare products, hydration or collagen products). It mixes well with hot liquid as I have been putting it in my morning coffee. I do love that it contains peptides as I believe they help with keeping you looking young, great for the skin. Another great thing about this product has (NSF) certification. This certification that signifies a food product meets the public health and safety standards set by the NSF. It's a third-party nonprofit certification that applies to the appliances and products found in a commercial kitchen. There are so many collagen products on the market, so I had to do a little extra reading to see what sets this product apart. The typical collagen powder that I normally purchase indicates Collagen Type I & III however this product is listed as Fortigel and Verisol. Verisol appears to be your Bovine collagen (Type I & III) and Fortigel has been reflected to be a bioactive collagen peptide designed to stimulate new cartilage growth. I have not taken the product long enough to notice these differences but what I can say is that based on the reading I have done the product seems clean and the trademarked ingredients have been researched. I added a scope to my shake and found that it blends well, doesn't have a flavor (it's neutral). It has a long shelf life however I do find the product price to be rather high. I will say if the Fortigel does what it says as an aging woman with a family history of osteoporosis I would say it is worth the cost. Fortigel is not only a collagen peptide, it also contains hydraulic acid, vitamin K, vitamin C and calcium. This is a combination that I feel offers many benefits. Read more
