I am 4'10" and wear a size 4-6short/petite. I bought a size 4 and they fit like a charm. They are a bit baggy and bigger around the thighs, but if you've got hips or thighs I think these pants will work with you, not against. And No.. they don't fit lengthwise and I had to cut and hem them, but honestly for work they're AMAZING! They're thick and durable, I haven't stained them (yet), and fit just right around my hips and thighs. I work in pest control and getting in crawl spaces, attics, basements, outdoors, mechanic rooms, etc... has led to most of my "non" work pants to stain and rip, or just look horrible. I own Carhartt, LOFT, Universal Thread, Old Navy, and other affordable pants but these are awesome because they stretch and give a little. I bought these pants hoping they would be on par with my carhartt work pants. They are durable but the color faded way too quickly and the sizing runs big. I fit other size 4 pants but these are too baggy and loose at the waist. Otherwise, they have a nice variety of pockets and feel sturdy. Read more

I picked the size 4 regular because another review with my build (5'4" 135lb) said it fit great. I'm sure this is the size that provides the closest approximation to a fit for my body, but I'm returning the item. The fit is strange. The pants are tight through my thighs. My legs are muscular from lifting & hiking & long distance running, but this was supposed to be a relaxed straight fit. It wasn't. It fit slim in the hips/thighs and like a bootcut below the knee. The jeans aren't made for a woman's butt. The waist is simultaneously both too long in front, causing the fabric to push down and create a camel toe (cuz I have no junk to fill up the front); while also being too flat and short in the back (cuz not enough room for my ass). Because these aren't form fitted to a woman's body, there is a multi-inch gap in the back between my lower back and the jeans. I'm built pretty rectangular for a woman. Not a lot of curve. Yet you can stand behind me and look straight down into the pants. (They didn't accidentally send the men's pants; the label says it's the women's fit.) It feels like they said "Yep, this size men's jean should fit the ladies in this size. Also, let's make it out of cheaper lightweight fabric, cuz we can get away with that in women's clothes." Yeah, the jeans are lighter weight than duck weight fabric. I own thrifted 90s jeans that are heavier weight. Dickies carpenter work pants are my favorite work pants. I ordered size 2 and they fit perfectly. The length comes long (I suppose for anyone with long legs), so I fold the bottoms up underneath till I can hem them. The pocket on the thigh holds a cell phone very nicely and the heavy duck material is great for cold winter wear. I have several other Dickies carpenter pants in a size larger, but after washing them, they do stretch out a bit after wearing them, then shrink a bit again after washing. I took a chance on the smaller size and glad I did. They are well made, have deep pockets and are so comfortable. They are my favorite pants for everyday work.... gardening, yard, woodworking etc. and I think they look good. Read more

I've never purchased a cargo pant before, but I'm sure glad I ordered these. I ordered a 12 Regular (I'm 5'6", weigh 150 pounds) and they fit great. Even the length was perfect, hanging about 2 inches below the top of my shoes. They are very stylish, and the quality is outstanding. For decades, I've known Dickies as a manufacturer of uniforms, so I believe the quality has to be good for them to have been in business for so long. All the stitching is perfectly straight, the hemming is nice and flat with no wrinkles, and there are no loose threads hanging anywhere.
