Really got these plates for the look. The black is great and they're made of quality plastic... If that's a thing. These took me no longer than 5 minutes to put on. I really like the idea of the vents on both sides as well. After countless hours of watching videos, I guess it was determined the vents DO NOT adversely effect the cooling system like some people say. So it does cool the PS5, but not by much more than the original plates. Good enough for me. I did take temp readings after playing horizons forbidden West for approximately 8 hours (my wife is not happy) and the hottest reading I obtained was 122F (50C). From what I read, this is well within normal temperatures (65-75C/149F-153F). I've learned the max temp is 175F, and then you should start worrying. I get the reading from the lower back exhaust vent, right around the power plug. I use my PS5 in a vertical manner. It never has gotten hotter than that. Unfortunately, I never took a temperature reading with the original plates on. I'll probably put them back on to see if there's any difference with the temperatures and I'll update this review. Overall, I love the look. If you were looking to personalize your PS5, these would be a great choice, and you can't beat the price. UPDATE: After about a year,I put the original plates back on after vacuuming the fan and the insides with the plates off. It wasn't dusty at all with the new plates on. I know some criticism with these new plates is that it will allow way more dust inside. I did not encounter that at all. I had forgotten to get temperatures with the original plates on, so I did. Interestingly, after playing a few hours of Horizons Forbidden West, I obtained a temperature of 128.1F (53.4C). That's 6 degrees hotter than the hottest temperature I've ever gotten with these new plates on. So, for myself, I've proven these plates actually work at keeping the PS5 cooler. Read more

My PlayStation 5 was having issues with overheating and I almost threw in the towel and bought a new one. With a little patience and the help of YouTube I was able to disassemble my PlayStation and remove all the dust bunnies that had collected inside over critical areas that require ventilation. I don't know if the fan venting actually helps anything I never had a problem with my PS5 overheating before I put them on. But the all black look just looks so much better than the weird oversized panels the original PS5 came with, so I love them five stars all the thumbs up! Nice black case replacement, It has long vents instead of circular hole, I can feel circulation don't know if it decreases critical component temperature but it looks great and my SSD upgrade (SABRENT M.2 NVMe Heatsink (SB-PSHS) with XPG 1TB GAMMIX S70 Blade} works well, very happy Read more
