DKNY Womens Hooded Belted Trench Coat Long Water-resistant Lightweight Jacket With Faux Leather Trimmmed Zipper Pockets

This is a review for "DKNY womens Hooded Belted Trench Coat – Long Water-resistant Lightweight Jacket With Faux Leather Trimmmed Zipper Pockets" I live in coastal SW Florida, it's January, and the weather is cold (for us anyway) overcast and sometimes drizzly. This week it's been about 40'-50'F in the morning, and about 65-75'' F in the afternoons. All week I've been wearing this coat to and from work, and on errands after work. On the coldest days, I wore a hoodie underneath, and on the warmest afternoons (75') I carried it back home instead of wearing it. It is my new favorite lightweight winter coat for light use. It looks professional and stylish, but still remains a classic. I am pretty sure I will wear it out before it goes out of style. It's a perfect "winter" coat for a teacher like me in the climate where I live. The insulation is minimal, but it was honestly SO perfect today when I wore it for afternoon recess. The temperature was 63', and we had wind gusts of about 15 mph. I wore it zipped up, and when the wind blew for a while, I put the hood on. Since the hood is pretty large and floppy, it obstructs my view a little, and I have to keep eyes on my students so I didn't wear the hood unless the wind was blowing. Today right at the end of recess, it began to rain just lightly. The jacket kept me dry, and the hood kept my hair from getting damp and turning to frizz. It wasn't a heavy rain, just light. The sleeves on this coat are narrow enough to look sleek, but still comfortably roomy enough to be able to wear a loose hoodie underneath for more warmth and not feel like I'm stuffed into the coat. This is the kind of coat that you wear to go from the house to the car, and car for a short walk across parking lot and campus, into work. You can wear it for short excursions and be comfortable, professional looking, protect your hair & clothes from drizzle, and stay warmer than just a sweater. However it isn't insulated, so it offers minimal protection from the cold. In other climates, it would be more suited for fall and spring. Having zippered pockets is great- they are still comfortable to slip my hands into, but things inside are much more secure when zipped up. Considering sizing, I am 5'9" and weigh about 160 lbs, I'm on the lean and fit side of the spectrum for a middle-aged woman. I also have broad shoulders. Most of the time I buy ladies shirts in size L tall, or size XL if it's not a "tall" size, in order to get enough width for my shoulders, and length for my arms. Often I find that the XL/reg size in many shirts and coats tends to look too roomy on my torso while it fits my arms and shoulders- but this jacket must be a slimmer fit. I find that the XL gives me a perfect sleeve length, the shoulders fit comfortably, the hem length looks great, while the body of the coat doesn't looking bulky around me. Read more

This hooded trench coat from DKNY has become my absolute favorite daily wear coat! The quality is phenomenal, from the design to the material and construction everything about this coat is impeccable. The cut and length are both extremely flattering and it hits at the perfect height when paired with a pair of knee high boots. The interior of the coat is very comfortable, soft and surprisingly warm and windproof while the abundance of pockets are an absolute win in my book. Not only are there a generous amount of pockets but they are also very generously sized and come equipped with sleek zippers to secure your items. The color is rich and timeless while the coat overall is very light weight despite its durable build. The hood is perfect, slightly oversized so that you can wear a hat underneath it and the belt adds a touch of sophistication to the overall appearance of the trench. This coat is a really nice balance between style and practicality. It’s lightweight but still does a good job blocking wind and light rain, which makes it perfect for everyday wear. I get cold easily and this kept me warm without making me overheat. The fit is flattering, especially with the belt to cinch the waist, and the length gives it a more polished look. The faux leather trim on the pockets adds a subtle detail without being too much. It definitely feels well made overall, and the zipper pockets are actually functional, which is nice. The coat is well made. The shell is a soft and smooth polyester. Leatherette trim adds fancy accents to the coat around the pockets and the rear belt loop. There are two slash pockets large enough to jam hands into. The pocket lining is very soft and silky. The hood is removable and looks nice either on or off. The coat is fully lined and sports a walking vent. If you need a little room for sweaters size up. If you are curvy, size up. The coat is water resistant, not waterproof. It should be able to handle light rain or moisture but over extended periods of time, water will seep in. In all this is a jacket good for Spring and Fall. Read more

This coat looks super nice on - it's more fitted in the waist. It has a double direction zipper closure, snap buttons, and a waist belt that ties. It also has a hood. The only thing I found with this is that it's a bit tight in the shoulders/around the chest area if you try to lift your arms; I got a medium which is the size that usually works for me in other brands. If you have broad shoulders I would suggest going up a size. Read more

I absolutely love this jacket! It fits true to size. I am 5’4 140 lbs and the medium fits well. It has multiple pockets and is water resistant so it’s perfect for harsh weather. The material is high quality, but not stiff so it is extremely versatile and comfortable to wear for an occasion. Read more
