Upon opening this twice sealed bottle, I was greeted with a slight scent that was pleasant. I haven't figured out what the scent is. No taste after taking 3 capsules. I did check to make sure black pepper was in the ingredient list so the turmeric would do it's job! This antioxidant is now added to my regimen for more flexibility. As we age, we start losing some of that and it makes things harder to do. This brown tinted bottle houses 180 normal sized capsules and at 3 daily, it holds a months worth. The quality looks good and ingredient list is clean. I can't imagine it will hurt anything in the digestion area, however there is that black pepper......I will do an update if I notice a difference in a few weeks, but for now I'm sticking with 5 stars. I've been taking Turmeric capsules on and off for about 5 years to try to help with joint pain. I find this particular Turmeric supplement to be high in potency with 95% curcuminoids, which is important to me. They also included black pepper extract to help with absorption, which makes them very effective for my usage. The capsules are smooth and easy to swallow. I don't get any odd taste in my mouth or stomach pain afterwards. They are Non-GMO and made in a GMP facility, which is also important to me. I'd like to know if they are 3rd party Tested too. You get 20 servings in a bottle. I'd like to see the bottle hold 30 servings, just because it seems easier to get a month's worth when you purchase supplements. I started taking supplements about 5 years ago as a regimen to increase my health and fight off viruses. Turmeric was one of those supplements that many doctors online and in books recommended for inflammation of all types. At the time, I had issues with knee pain off and on for 20 years, including having arthroscopic surgery, but that wasn't particularly why I started taking it. I just thought it would be a healthy supplement to add to my regimen. On my last yearly checkup, my PharmD doctor was going over my medications and supplements and specifically told me that taking turmeric was good to reduce inflammation. That shocked me, considering they've never suggested that taking supplements was helpful in any way. Then I realized that I hadn't had knee pain in years and virtually never have colds or flus. So, I'm thinking there's a connection here. I haven't taken this particular turmeric long enough to know if it's any different than the others I've taken, but I do appreciate that it contains the black pepper extract that's necessary for proper absorption, it's made in the United States, and it contains no artificial colors or flavors. I’ve enjoyed taking Tumeric off and on for many years. So I tried the Doctor's Recipes Turmeric with Black Pepper over a period of 20 days. This bottle provides only 20 days worth if you take the recommend serving of 3 capsules a day. The capsules are easy to swallow. And I like how black pepper is added. In my opinion I think this is a really good turmeric supplement. (They keep deleting my review, won't tell me anything on why, let's see if they find this one offensive. How??) (Ok, some guide words down here, see if they'll let me answer those...) Ingredients include turmeric and pepper. Size is pretty normal for capsules, and capsules are pretty easy to swallow. I'm giving Doctor's Recipes Turmeric Curcumin 2 stars because the labeling is confusing and seems exaggerated. The math doesn't add up - the 300mg Turmeric Extract (35:1) is equivalent to 10,500mg Turmeric root powder, but that's not the same as actual Turmeric. I suspect the actual Turmeric content is much lower than claimed. For a supplement that claims 12,000mg Turmeric, I'm not convinced it's delivering. Read more
