Once installed properly this bar holds great. The trick is to install it according to the directions and test it cautiously. Once you gain confidence in installing it properly, it's easy and works great. I hung it up and then hung all over it, in every way I could imagine. I placed it in the door frame high, low and middle, and it worked great in each position. Never budged. Read more

Overall I have to say that this pull up bar is harder to set up then what they say. It's hard to keep it in the air while you turn it to fit in desired position. It has been a hassle for me to put it up and keep it from sliding or keep my arms from getting tired of holding it above my head while turning it. In terms of sturdiness I'm giving it 4 stars because the red things already look like their about to give, so I will probably have to get new ones. Read more

The friction-hold shoes on either end have little detents that fit into grooves in the tension rod, and the tension rod extends separately from each end. This means that it's not possible to tighten the tension rod without also twisting the entire shoe around against whatever it's supposed to be holding onto. Of course twisting the shoe 360 degrees takes more force than pulling it down along that surface -- so it's a catch-22. If you have the strength to mount this rod in place at all, you are very likely to accidentally pull it down when you grab it. The rod itself is pretty sturdy but it's so impractical to mount (to even test it, I needed to use pliers to torque it into place) there are far better products out there. Simply designing the tension rod to thread into the shoes as it turns would have fixed this problem. Read more

Worked well for me. You need a sturdy door frame (this is explicitly advertised). I set only enough to hold my weight, I fear cracking the wood. But it holds well and I like being able to adjust height and take down without any permanent mounts. Read more

I see now at the very bottom of description where it states how dangerous this can be. It's the LAST sentence. Maybe should be the FIRST!? We are at the ER after my son fell directly on side of head onto concrete. Golf ball sized knot, bloody nose, bruised shoulder. The locking teeth-security-safety thing was coming loose after every use and super hard to get back in..... I'm furious. At myself, at my kid, at the company....
