I bought my first Dorco razor maybe 15 years ago, and have relied on it ever since, saving a ton of cash on blades along the way. They're just as good as Gilette, if not better, but Gilette has a distribution monopoly, so you won't see these in most stores. Save your money. Do you need 7 blades? Are they worth the additional cost? It's debatable on price/value, but there's no doubt on this: they give me a better, faster, smoother shave. Plus they come with nicer handles... The new handles are a HUGE upgrade. (I've tried them both.) The old ones were effective, but ugly, and the release mechanism broke over time. These are an improvement in every way. This particular 'Premium' handle is super-chic, looks great, and feels good in your hand. To get something like this for the Gilette blades, you'll pay $40 or more and these guys give it to you free... you have little to lose here, except your outdated dependency on an overpriced and customer-unfriendly retail monopoly. My ex gave me this razor as a gift a few years ago, since then no other razor compares to this one. The handle is metal, very sturdy, and on the heavier side, which I love. The 7 blades are unmatched. It's really easy to clean the hair out of it. Just put it under running water and the pressure does it's job. 1 cartridge lasts me forever and this whole set is basically a year supple for me, and even longer. But again, it depends how much and how often you shave. As woman I do not like female razors. So ladies, this one works for us, better than any other, and I'm sure the guys would agree too. Read more
I have a love/hate relationship with Dorco. They are a better value as long as they last as long as Gillette. Many times they do. I prefer the Pace 6 (6 blade + trimmer blade), although the blades get clogged easily and are difficult to rinse clean. The Pace 4 gives me a rough shave. Figured I would give this one a change. The handle is heavy which gives a solid feel, but it's slippery when wet. The blades do a nice job giving me a smooth shave. They seem to last 7 - 10 shaves for me, which is just about what I get from Gillette. But not having a trimmer blade is a killer. Again, a love/hate. Love the heft of the handle, but it's slippery. Good blades, but no trimmer. I will probably go back to the Pace 6, just for the trimmer. If this handle had some rubber grips it would be ideal. Read more
I purchased this for my ex. I usually get him the swipe blades but for some reason the delivery date wouldn't be till between 22nd the 26th so I looked around and found these blades so I ordered them and he actually loves them even more than the swipe blades he says that I should get myself a pack. I'm a middle-aged Black man who has shaven my head bald for many, many years and I have literally tried every razor available, from the regular razors you can buy at the pharmacy to all of the electric trimmers and shavers. They all pale in comparison to this razor. For one, the blade array actually provides a nice, clean, cut-free shave. When shaving, the blades actually feel like they have a certain amount of "grip" - you can feel them cutting the hairs as they pass over your scalp or face. Many of the other multi-blade razors seem to just glide over your head/face and you end up having to go over the same spots 4-5 times to get the hair shaved. Not with this shaver. If you shave slowly and along with the grain of your hair growth (never go against or you're going to have razor bumps from hell!) after softening it with warm water and shaving cream, one-stroke shaving is possible. The other thing I really like is that the blade handle itself is very well made, has a solid heft to it, and the new blades are very easy to load. A razor handle that has a decent amount of weight to makes shaving so much easier. Don't waste your time with the cheap, disposable razors that are light as feathers. Overall, great product that I'd recommend for anyone who, like myself, shaves daily and values a nice, satisfyingly clean shave! Read more
