Because my room has solar panels on it and no trees around it. My room can reach 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and it's terrible to live in a room like that all day. This thing has been a lifesaver, helping me keep my room cool! It cooled my room in about 20 minutes and everything was easy to install. This device discharges more air than the window device.
