Bought both the wrist brace and the thumb splint and have been using both over the past two days to help relieve some wrist pain. Thumb splint to bed, wrist braces while working. Materials are fantastic feeling and seem durable enough for now and, for the moment, feel like they should last quite some time. Velcro stays in place while the material provides just enough stretch to provide a comfortable compression, while being stiff enough to support the wrist. Reading the above, you may wonder why the "almost" in the headline: If I had one complaint about the two Dr. Arthritis wrist braces, it is that they aren't the easiest things to get on. Once they're secured, they feel secure, but it does take a bit of finagling to wrap the brace around the wrist, while the thumb splint takes a little bending to get it situated. It's certainly not impossible, though, and it just takes a little practice, so I won't dock any stars for it. That being said, for their price, they're great. I would highly recommend them! Read more
After just a few hours, I already started to feel a difference as far as stabilization goes. I recently was diagnosed with De Quervain’s Syndrome and was grateful when my PT sent me a link to this product— i had been wearing a wrist stabilizer brace and my PT said “no, that’s not going to work— get this instead, you need to stabilize your thumb.” It has now been 3 days and the pain has gone down drastically! I can finally use my hand without flinching. The brace is beyond comfortable, and with the 3 adjustable straps, it’s easy to find a tightness that works for you and provides the support you need. My hand also can breathe which is just as important, and when I take off the brace at night, there are no red lines or marks signaling that it was too tight on my skin. Overall i couldn’t be happier with the product, and recommend this for anyone who has this same syndrome or needs to stabilize their thumb, but also wants to be able to live their normal daily life and keep up with the same routine they are currently doing. This product works. Period. The stabilization plates are perfectly positioned and padded such that you don’t feel them at all. It’s pretty slim for these things; but is really nicely adjustable. I sleep in this almost every night, and am not bothered by it at all. I’m treating carpal tunnel and some repeated spraining/straining of the joint where the thumb bone meets the wrist. The first night I wore this, the next morning I felt about 60% improved. After about a week of solidly wearing it, which also helped me be more mindful of avoiding activities/motion’s that strained the joint, I felt no more pain at all. After about 3 months of wearing it most nights and sometimes during the day, even with repeated additional strains /tweaks/sprains of the joint during the day when I wasn’t wearing it, it feels about 1,000 times better than before I had this. I’m still healing; but I would not have been if not for this. My only complaints are the Velcro on the thumb doesn’t stick to anything; and it doesn’t stay stuck once you get it as stuck as you can. Thus the 4 stars instead of 5. And the hand strap is a little long for my little hands; but I’m not docking anything for that because I wrap it down at an angle to the wrist, then wrap the wrist strap over it. Both of those straps have good Velcro that sticks really solidly to almost all parts of the brace. The only other thing that I’ve noticed is that I can still injure or strain the joint while wearing the brace because it doesn’t stabilize the wrist down the forearm. Very effective at holding thumb immobile. I recently aggravated my tendons in my left wrist, and needed something to keep my thumb from bending and re-injuring it, especially when I slept. I tried 3 different braces. The most expensive one wasn’t easy to put on, and wasn’t very effective or comfortable. Unfinished velcro straps flopped around. Had to lay it down to put it on. This brace was simple, holds the thumb as immobile as I choose, and is very well made. Velcro straps have finished padded ends. They don’t wrap, or trail around limply. In addition, the brace doesn’t interfere with wearing a watch, as it doesn’t extend too far down the wrist. And the price was not much higher than the cheaply made ineffective brace I tried. This is a comfortable glove that supports my thumb so I can lift weights. I am almost 74 and I need to keep my strength up so I am lifting 5, 8 and 10 pound weights regularly. It used to be painful, now with the glove I am able to do it pain free. Read more
I love how this stabilizes the thumb and wrist and have felt a difference in pain, but it cuts into my thumb so badly. I have started putting cotton rounds below the thumb strap to help stop it from pinching my skin but I still wake up with raw skin and a sore spot. If the thumb strap was higher up this would be a perfect product but it remains to be seen whether I’ll be able to keep using this brace. Read more
Fantastic braces, Over the past few months I have purchased several braces to immobilize my thumbs, I have paid anywhere from $8.95 to $39.88 each. These braces have done a better job are far more durable and much more comfortable than braces costing three times the price. The construction and materials used are excellent the velcro grips very well, the metal supports are sturdy and well positioned making them comfortable to wear all day. I am very pleased with my purchase and advise anyone needing to immobilize their thumbs at the base to give them a try. Read more
