Love this dryer! Dries shoes quickly and is easy to use. Knob is a little hard to turn but works as should. Heat level is great and dries completely. I use this item weekly and would buy another. Read more
I'm naturally skeptical when it comes to almost anything these days. It seems that almost nothing lives up to the claims made by manufactures that can be purchased for what almost always turns out to be more money than something is worth. We purchased this with the slim hopes that it would be able to at least reduce the amount of water/moisture in our teenage children's soccer cleats after weekend long tournaments in weather that should have caused the tournaments cancellation. Their cleats are sometimes so waterlogged that hours and sometimes days later were still dripping wet, even after filling them with newspaper, paper towels, other internet baseless-claims of what to fill the cleats with and leaving them outside in the sun in order to dry them out. Upon ordering this dryer, I weighted and placed a pair of older cleats and a pair of regular running shoes in buckets of water and let them soak for the two days until the dryer arrived. When the dryer did arrive, I set it up, plugged it in and took the pair of cleats out of the bucket and placed them on the dryer, then turned the dryer on setting the timer to the full three hour limit. After one hour, I wasn't surprised to find the cleats still very wet, but after two I was pleasantly surprised to find that the cleats had been significantly dried but were still damp. And after the full three hours, I was blown away by the fact that the cleats were 100% dry, free of any moisture and free of the normal old cleat smell. I then took the running shoes out of the bucket and immediately placed them on the dryer and repeated the three hour test. And to my astonishment, I had the same result. Absolutely dry and free of any nauseating smell shoes. This dryer goes with us every time we have to travel for our soccer tournaments. I even took it with me on a weekend ATV/UTV trip. And I was glad that I did. It rained all weekend long and my friends and I used it to dry our soaking boots out every night after riding all day in non-stop rain and lots of water fording. It easily handled drying out four pairs of motorcycle and hiking boots and pretty much ran all night long doing so. I have since purchased this dryer again in order to have two on hand in times of need and have had the exact same results. Very rarely am I this happy with any purchase I've made for anything. Especially something of this nature. Read more
This is for the 2 shoe, manual timer model. The dryer seems to work okay, but it certainly isn't silent, nor even silent-ish. It's not "loud" neither. Guess "whisper" is relative. I'd say it sounds like a neighbor vacuuming or using a blow dryer in the apartment on the other side of the wall. It's probably as loud as my microwave (which makes surprising amount of sound), definitely louder than my dishwasher. It's not terrible, but I definitely wouldn't want to have it running in my living room or bedroom. I can hear it running while placed in the downstairs hall, but tolerable. Sound level aside, it seems to warm to an acceptable level, it's warmer than I thought, but I think it's fine. It would be nice if this model would have had switchable heat mode like the bigger units. I haven't used it on very wet shoes yet, but I'm sure it will take at least a few hours to get soaked ones dry. I believe the fins running the length of the tubes on some of the other 4-shoe models would help on this one, as it would allow more/better air circulation out of the shoes to carry the moisture out even better, right now you are basically blowing into a bottle with a (heated) straw. I debated -1 or -2 stars for the sound level, but am giving it benefit of the doubt for now. If allowed, it would be 3.5 stars at this point. Read more
