Took 6 coats to patch a small nail hole.
It's not spackle or plaster. I don't know what it is, but it has the consistency of soft toothpaste. The problem is the shrinkage when it dries. My photos - the one with my finger (for scale) is a hole from one of those landlord approved extra-small nail hangers. It took FIVE - yes FIVE - applications to fill the hole. The other image has a chip. 1/8" deep. This one took 8 coats to finish it. No sanding between coats - there is just that much shrinkage. Look, if I'm running around the place patching small holes, I don't want it to be a three day project. Push in some plaster, make sure it's smooth and flat, and move on. 90% of the time is one and done. I have used every plaster, mud and patch that's out there. This was the worst of the lot.
