If you are looking for a high quality .25 mm derma roller, this might be a good product for you. This derma roller arrived ready to gift and, in this case, I am using the derma roller as part of my weekly personal facial care routine. .25 mm is a good place to start if you are new to facial derma rolling and I've actually progressed to .5 mm for areas of thicker skin on my face (e.g.g sides of my face and chin). The thing is these are tiny needles piercing the upper layer of your skin, so you will want to have .80% (or similar) alcohol on hand in the form of a small spray bottle to disinfect this derma roller before and after use. I first use soapy water to remove any skin debris from the derma roller after use, as that tends to keep the tiny needles sharper longer. This is like a disposable razor - and I typically get 3 to 5 uses on one derma roller before they begin to get too dull to use. This one has remained sharp after two uses, so I am hopeful to be able to get 5 uses out of hits derma roller. This derma roller is a little pricier than others and it's good quality but not double the quality of others. The way I use derma rollers is: *This is typically a night routine as it feels so good in the morning after this complete routine ... *Wash my face and tone with 7% glycolic acid toner *Derma plane to remove the top layer of facial hair and dead skin (you may choose to simply shave your face with a razor, but that doesn't get as close to the skin as derma planing does). *Wash off the dead skin after derma planing *derma roll in very small 2 inch patches, then immediately apply a very good quality serum before the tiny holes close up - then move on to the next part of your face... *follow up with a good quality overnight collagen, moisturizing face mask I do this once a week and it has helped me to reduce fine lines and, along with a dark spot corrector. I've noticed a more even skin tone. i also use red light therapy in the morning for 10 minutes after washing my face. This seems like a lot of work to have good skin, but once you have the routine down, it's like brushing your teeth - just part of staying healthy and clean. Usage Experience: I use it about 3 times a week, making sure to sanitize it thoroughly before and after each use (alcohol spray is a must). The process takes about 5–10 minutes per session. I mainly target the crown and temple areas where my hair has thinned over the years. There was some mild redness the first couple of times, but that subsided quickly and hasn't been an issue since. Results: Around the 4–5 week mark, I started noticing some very fine baby hairs growing in spots that were completely smooth before. By the 8-week point, those have thickened a bit, and there’s a definite improvement in overall density. It’s not dramatic, but it's real. Good needle size for my face. I quit using them in the past because they were the .5 and just hurt whereas these sting a little, but nothing I can't handle. Cheek elasticity has improved and forehead texture as well. My forehead isn't botox smooth by any means, but the lines aren't as deep and the skin doesn't look like it's dry anymore. The most important thing you need to know about this device is that it needs to be replaced monthly (after 30 uses). For me, that makes it a bill! I was expecting something with a longer lifespan. The roller I received did come in it's own, molded plastic case. Nothing fancy, but useful for storage and cleaning. The directions are on the box and are relatively easy to follow. I suggest reading all of the steps before beginning (there aren't many). 1. the roller must be rinsed and then cleaned with isopropyl alcohol prior to use 2. clean area with warm water 3. use the roller following the patterns shown and described 4. SOAK THE ROLLER in alcohol for 10 MINUTES! 5. Rinse and store After using it the first time, my skin did sting a little when I used my treatment product, something that never happens. I suppose that means it did open my pores! Unfortunately, thought I understand why the roller should be cleaned, but cleaning and soaking, I doubt I'll manage to use it 30 times quickly enough to see results! Read more
