Four stars because the tools that come with it are garbage and you need a ratchet wrench to put this together. I really can’t imagine doing it without one. The other reason I give it four stars is that there was a blob of powder coating at the very top where the bent piece holds the two sides together and it was a bear to get the bolt through the hole because they didn’t lineup. We thought about filing it off but then we were worried it would chip too much of the powder coat off so finally my husband was able to wrangle it and screw it in and get it to work but it did take some effort. There were also a couple of areas where the corners were chipped before it even came out of the box. Not a big deal because it’s going in the weight room and I suspect it’ll get beat up but definitely should come out of the box without paint chips. I think it’ll do and I liked the higher weight limit than some of the others I looked at. Still waiting to see whether these little rubber things that just pop on actually stay on. There was one review for one of them that talked about them falling off and needing to be glued. They seem secure so we will see if that’s necessary. It is very sturdy and I liked that it was slightly taller than some of the other ones even though it still held five weights because it allows for easier in and out and they don’t bump into each other. It would be nice if where it held the weight was a little wider because I have narrow hands and I can barely get them in and out but I suppose a guy with larger hands would just have to use a couple of fingers. It has a nice small footprint which is a game changer for the tiny part of our room that has to be our workout space. Read more

I got both weight racks to hold dumbbells from 10lbs to 55lbs and the racks work perfect and they are solid. Also, I have no problem getting the dumbbells off the racks and I wear an XL to XXL glove. Read more

We have a small workout area in the basement with weights, a bike, and a treadmill. We got tired of fumbling around for the weights. A little organization was in order. This unit did the trick. This is a solid, well-built rack. For me it works perfectly, certainly as far as storing my weights is concerned. So why not give it five stars? I’ll attempt to explain below. The rack’s capacity is supposedly 570 pounds. I currently have dumbbell (Rogue Hex) pairs of, 75lbs, 60lbs, 45lbs, 35lbs & 25lbs, which come to a total of 480lbs. The rack holds this weight easily, and is amazingly stable – I attempted to capsize it, by pulling it towards me (not with my full weight of course), to see if it was safe, and it wouldn’t budge. What bugs me though, with this apparatus, is the spacing of the slots. If you look at the pictures I’ve attached, the bottom two pairs of weights (60s and 75s) are just about touching, as are the next two pairs (35s and 45s), then the 25s at the top do touch each other. For a rack that boasts such a significant weight capacity, I would expect it to easily fit bigger weights than I have. A 570lbs configuration could look like – 90lbs, 75lbs, 55lbs, 40lbs & 25lbs. If you had Rogue Hex weights of that size, the 90s and 75s would not seat properly as they would rest against each other. Same thing with the 55lbs and the 40lbs. This rack is designed for smaller, more compact weights from a fit perspective. If I were the manufacturer, I’d add another 5cm in height (2”), and space the gaps further apart and more evenly, and then also widen the top crosspiece, so that bigger weights could fit there if the user so desired. The only other aspect about the rack I didn’t like, was the smell. It reeks when you’ve set it up! A horrible, toxic, industrial rubber type odor that can’t be good for you. Thankfully, over the course of a few days it has subsided, unless I’ve just gotten used to it. All in all, I would definitely recommend it, but I would willingly pay more for apparatus that was a little bigger and geared for rubber hex, or bigger volume weights, and didn’t have such a toxic smell. For my purposes, I couldn’t find another A-Frame rack that had this brand’s weight capacity. Pros • Robust, safe and stable. • Takes up a small footprint. Cons • Bottom two gaps and middle two gaps – too close together, which means the weights can touch each other, and makes it irritating to rack, as you have to go in order – bottom first. • The smell from the chemicals used in its manufacture is initially toxic.
