My husband loves these dust covers and in the house where we live- they are quite necessary. I have never lived in an older house and whether that is the issue, or my landlord needs to get around to doing all the things we have requested- regardless, we have more dust in the house than I have ever had in any other palace I have lived in (and this is the oldest residence I have ever lived in). My husband had recently got an Xbox X so when we saw these dust covers- we knew we needed them despite the fact we had no real idea of what they would look like or how they would function- because I don't think the ad was all that clear. But, I will admit that I didn't look into what they were like too deeply, knowing that no matter what they worked out to be like- if they were for the Xbox X- and that is what my husband has- then these were necessary- for the home we have and this expensive device we would like to maintain. The one thing that can make a device malfunction is dust and I have had many devices do this very thing- when I did not properly care for them. While some of the upkeep can be an expense- in the end, when your device gets a longer life from you taking care of it- it makes the extra money spent worth it. Luckily, I was able to see how these worked on our machine- to be able to tell others what the product was like and if it worked or not. My husband only recently got these covers and has had them on for about a week and a half now. If you look at the photos that I took of them- they were before he placed them on his machine. You can see in the photos that all this kit is- is a screen for any open part of the Xbox (and I mean any part) along with smaller rubber covers- for any open spot (like anywhere a wire can connect to the Xbox). The filters that cover the larger open spots- where the machine either takes in air- or lets it out- come with padded sticky tape along their sides which you use to adhere to your machine (only on one side). Once this is done, the filter cannot be removed. If this filter is removed, you cannot put it back without having to somehow replace the padded sticky tape along the inside sides of the filter. All of the filters are like this- adhere to the machine with this padded sticky tape on the one side. On the other hand (if you look at the photo I included of my husband's machine with the filter on the top)- there is just a smooth side. However when it comes to replacement covers they go over the other openings- all USB ports, where you can stick in a game (and my husband only has one game that he inserts and plays, all the others he can get online), the HDMI openings on the box, there is even a covering that says storage expansion and for your power button- where you put your power chord. These covers are things other people may want to be able to seal over open areas on the box- all ports- because many of them you may never have to unseal. But, as I said, they are easily removable- unlike the filters- which once stuck, can't be undone. Another cool thing we discovered in the kit- were covers for the joysticks- the kit comes with six of them, three blue and three red. Since you only need two on each joystick- there are extras included if you have multiples or if you want to keep some for later- when the ones you use wear out (if they even do). My husband loves these joystick covers and keeps them on all the time- even when using the controller and so far, they have not interfered- at all- with any of the gaming he does. He even says they have helped him gain a better level of control over the joystick on the controller. If you plan on storing this Xbox and not using it for any amount of time- over a week- I would tell others that this is a kit that is necessary for that. With this kit, you can prevent anything from getting in any of the open spots on an Xbox and they have done a really good job in designing a kit that covers everything you would need to cover! Please take a look at the photos that I took of this kit- before they were on the Xbox and when one of the filters was placed on top of my husband's Xbox, along with a photo of what the joystick covers look like on the Xbox controller. Remember that there are also blue joystick covers but my husband likes red (all red, it seems) and chose two of those- for his controller.
