Very easy to use, just like drawing with a felt tip, a few passes could bring the shade to a near black, so get it right the first or second time and you're good on the colour. I am happy with the application and long lasting color, however I have purchased the color coffee four times and each time, the color is different this last time, it was so black that I wasn't able to use it. I actually thought that I was sent the wrong color by mistake but the label does say coffee. I had never heard of e.l.f. cosmetic products before, but this was well priced, so I chose it. I chose the dark brown, because I have very light skin and black looks too harsh and garish on me. It's the exact color I need, goes on smoothly, and is easy to apply without smudging or sticking yourself in the eye. It lasts all day and does not come off until you wash it off, yet it wipes off easily with a washcloth or makeup wipe. When you are wearing it, you cannot feel it, and it does not irritate.
