I initially got these earplugs to wear to bed at night, to effectively block out sound so that I could have uninterrupted sleep. These earplugs are packaged with 3 different sized ear tips (in addition to the tips that are already on the earplugs). The absolute key to maximum noise control and comfort is to find the size that fit your ear canals the best. I tried a couple of sizes to ensure I was making the right choice. Once I nailed the sizing, I wore them to bed. They were perfect for drowning out the louder noises; yet, I could hear enough in case of emergency. They reliably stayed on through the night, remaining comfortable throughout. Although they are optimized for sleeping, I thought I would try them in the real world to see how good they really are. I wore them through a jazz concert, a stage performance and an NBA game. These earplugs did not disappoint. Although the game was especially loud, it was great for me to be able to effectively block out the really loud music and screaming fans. Yet, I was able to conduct full conversations with my seat mates by pulling the earplug out just enough to unseal it from my canal. As I grow older, I am hypersensitive about losing my hearing. I tried the SammeGlam Sleep Earplugs, which were priced at $17.99. I am a light sleeper, and use earplugs nightly to tune out my snoring spouse and other noises. It took me a long time to find earplugs that had the deicble rating I needed, and that were not painful for me to wear. Typical earplugs are often too large for my ear canal. I love that this set has four tip sizes for me to find the size that works best. I ordered the yellow pair so they will be easy to find in my nightstand drawer. Pros: These are comfortable to wear, easy to insert and remove, and there are four sizes of tips to try to find what works best for you. The tips are easy to clean. They seem to be well made and should last a long time. Cons: Most earplug brands like this include multiple tips in the same size; once the tips wear out, you will have to order new ones, or switch to a different size. These also don't list what decibel rating they protect against. They work fine, but don't seem to work as well to tune out noise as my foam earplugs. I am taking off a star because I don't know how much noise they are rated to block, so I had to take a risk and try them. I am not looking for total silence. I am looking for fewer interruptions, and these do that. The biggest reason these work for me is the fit. The replaceable tip options let you dial it in instead of forcing a one size plug that hurts or falls out. Comfort is everything when you are sleeping, because if an earplug creates pressure you will rip it out in the middle of the night. These are soft enough to wear for hours, and the noise reduction is enough to take the edge off snoring, hallway noise, and early morning sounds. A realistic expectation is that you will still hear very loud noise and alarms, which is a good thing. For me, the value is better sleep and fewer wake ups.
