Awesome Dennis Wick knock-off. I don't know how it compares playing wise I just know I have clearer pedal tones than with my 6.5AL. This is a larger cup and deeper cup than the 6.5AL so I assume its a legit 4AL. Nice polish in and out. I looked at this for several weeks, pondering because some of these knock offs don't do a good job in the cup for polish but Eastrock definitely ROCKS! If they made anything a bit larger I would try that in a second. I worked in a machine shop running a CNC lathe, I know how cheap something like this can be made. Its a shame Americans have to overprice their goods way beyond a legitimate profit margin and invite competition like this that undermines their future. Seriously. This could easily be made and marketed in the USA for $50 and the Chinese wouldn't bother copying it. Read more

While the fit and feel is spot on, the overtones fall alittle flat as in muted nit intonation. If you’re looking for a mouthpiece to try out before spending money on a new size then by all means get this. It is 100% playable and new players will probably not notice the difference Read more

This mouthpiece is great for higher notes and brighter sound. I've only been using it for a couple months but it's holding up well. It's my backup and I only got it to see if it helped my endurance (it doesn't) but it's great to switch to a nice cool mp in a long concert. Read more

First Impressions: PROS- 1. LOOKS like a Dennis Wick 4AL mouthpiece. 2. Feels like a Schilke 51 mouthpiece. 3. Sounds a bit darker in tone than the Schilke 51. 4. The cup seems slightly deeper than the Schilke 51. 5. I can play the lower tones of my Yamaha YEP 642 (large shank) Euphonium easier with the EastRock than with the Schilke 51. 6. This EastRock 4AL is a large shank (not a small shank) mouthpiece. I intended this mouthpiece for a small shank euphonium (F.E. Olds & Sons Euphonium-Baritone)... oh, well, surprise! CONS- 7. I never felt confident about the specifications and descriptions listed for this EastRock 4AL. I felt as if I was taking a gamble in buying it. 8. The rim is slightly more edgy, unlike the Shilke 51D's rounded (more comfortable) rim. Final Thoughts: 1. The EastRock 4AL is a pleasant surprise and worth the price (at this moment). 2. It is comfortable and easier to play across the instrument's practical range (I don't know about the high range). 3. I would recommend this mouthpiece to musicians on a budget wanting to try deep cup mouthpieces. Read more
