PERFECT - we have recently begun updating our home to make it a little "smarter" - this included adding a couple of Echo Dot's to several rooms (we have a two story home). This outlet shelf is the PERFECT addition for this! It keeps the Dot plugged in and "out of the way" so to speak. In our downstairs space, its in the kitchen area. We have a large open floor plan, and the island space is up against a wall and does have an outlet there. This nifty shelf allows the Echo Dot to sit there, easily accessible yet out of the way and with no power cords hanging all over the place..yet still allows for another item to be plugged in. This Dot is also the "travel Dot", so gets picked up and taken out to the boat, or with us when we travel etc... The shelf accommodates the portable charging station for the Dot and the Dot easily!!! And LOOKS GREAT! In another room upstairs, table/shelf space wasn't available, thus it keeps it nearby and accessible, but still out of the way and again, no cords dangling along the floor. This small outlet shelf is white, so blends with the majority of outlets any home may have, along with home décor... and is STURDY as all get out!! EASY install - you're basically just unscrewing your existing cover plate, and putting this one on in it's place! Takes all of one minute to do. Comes with two plate faces: standard two outlet rounded plug-in, and another if you have the square more modern one piece dual plug in style. And yes, if you drop that darn small little outlet cover screw, this comes with extra screws. Sleek - modern - looks just like the photo and can easily hold up to the 10 pounds max weight recommendation. If you don't want your Echo Dot or any other smaller electronics (would hold a full sized Echo as well) sitting on a shelf or table, THIS is just what you're looking for! This is a solid little piece of kit. I am very impressed with it. So impressed I give it 5 stars which I think I have given once before Installed in about a minute. The shelf is very sturdy. The plate covers they supply are steel, holds the shelf in place nicely. I originally thought I would put one of my Google Homes on it next to my stove. The Home fits well but then I thought better of it with the heat and grease around the cooking area. Ileft the shelf there though as I will likely put a wall charger and cable there to charge our phones. I bought an extra one, need to think about placement. Then my next task will be to think of all the places I may want to put the next ones. Yes, I will be buying more. At $15 a piece they are well worth it. Some other reviewers talked about lack of a place to but the excess power cable, to me this is so small of an issue it is not worth deducting for. I may glue a cable wrap on the bottom for that. Would be nice to have on it but does not negate the usefulness of this device. Two thumbs up, buy these things. Read more

This was exactly what I was temporarily looking for! I've been shopping around for a console table or some type of furniture to throw against the wall that might act as a decorative piece, while also functioning mainly to allow my Google Home to perch somewhere. Well, that process has taken longer than expected, something needed to be done. Enter the ECHOGEAR Outlet Shelf. I opted for this outlet shelf for two reasons: 1) price, and 2) design. The design looked more sturdy than others like it. While the design looked to promise a way to hide the cord "for a sleek look," it turned out NOT to be the case. Even so, I appreciated the small touches like including a replacement outlet panel, made of thick gauge steel. It adds to the sturdy nature of the piece. The small guide hole for the cable was nice as well, making it easy to snake the USB cord through. A couple of changes would include allowing a bottom panel or the top panel to be removed so as to snake a cable. Other than that, great little product that solves a problem for those with space constraints that works great for these new voice-actuated devices! Read more

This shelf has a nice, minimal design and is super easy to install. It’s as easy as changing an outlet cover, and seems plenty sturdy to hold a Sonos One. I actually flipped the shelf 180 (see pics) to conceal the outlet entirely, and used Velcro to adhere the Sonos to the shelf, due to the less stable surface in this orientation. Most people will have trouble with this usage because the cord will stick out and force the Sonos too far forward. I was able to do avoid this due to a uniquely deep wall cavity and an outlet box that easily is adjusted back into the wall. For me, this made the shelf an absolutely perfect and discreet fit for my bathroom. Great idea, great design, and some of you may be able to work out a similar “upside down” application like I did. I would consider myself a bit of an obsessive neat person--I hate having cords everywhere & I cannot stand clutter. We have a Google speaker that is in our bathroom and I was tired of it being on the counter with the cord going everywhere--so I bought this speaker. The hidden wire compartment is a PERFECT addition. I started by setting this up with just my speaker on it--then I realized that the wire compartment had extra space, so I modified my electric toothbrush holder cord (shortened it) & added that behind the speaker. Who knew that this little shelf could provide so much satisfaction to my morning routine! Great invention & a perfect exectution. This shelf is sturdy, good looking and extremely functional. I cannot think of any complaints--it includes metal plates for both old school outlets (rounded) and Decora squared outlets--I am in the process of upgrading all of my outlets to Decora, so I kept the replacement plate for when that time came.
