Eddie Bauer womens Girl on the Go Trench

Saw this for a great low price in “Twilight” (dark blue color) and given Eddie Bauer is supposed to be great quality I figured I’d take a chance & order. Well I just got it so I haven’t used it outside, but I was happy to see it fits and the quality is great! Double zip & buttons, detachable hood, nice length so you’ll be pretty well covered out in the rain (granted I’m only 5’2). Comfortable & sturdy construction, looks good, not too heavy. This just came so I can't comment on how waterproof it actually is, but I like its construction. Well-made, seams even, no loose threads, zippers work, snaps work. Zippered pockets at a slight angle, large enough for a cell phone, passport and wallet. I'm about 5'5" and it hits about an inch and a half above my knee. Easy to sit down and your bottom won't get wet. I'm about 150 pounds and It's quite flattering for a raincoat, yet roomy enough for sweaters. (I've returned so many that made me look like a rectangular sack.) It's fairly light weight and I'm planning on using it for travel. I think with layers underneath it would work in all but the coldest temperatures. It's a keeper. The only thing that would make it more perfect would be a zippered inside pocket. Read more

I purchased a medium, grape Eddie Bauer GOTG trench coat for a trip to Scotland and everyday walking/hiking. I love the coat. I wore layers for warmth, including a fleece zip-up sweater. The coat worked well in the cold wind and rain we faced in the Isle of Sky and at home walking the dog in the rain or running errands. It is a great windbreaker and raincoat. However, when it is pouring outside and I have walked the dog in the rain for a couple of miles (more than a stroll from the parking lot to a store), the inside of the coat does become damp. This has happened to all of my other Gortex coats as well. it dries quickly and is easy to pack. Overall, I love the look and the lightweight feel of the coat, its versatility, and the fit. A very nice trench jacket. It has a nice inside pocket and removable hood. I returned it because it doesn't feel like it would provide the warmth I think I will need for an international spring trip. If I had decided this was the jacket for my needs, I would have ordered a medium instead of ordering up for layers, so I would say it is true to size. Read more

I bought this for an upcoming trip to northern Europe. I've ordered maybe 10 rain jackets so far trying to find the perfect one. This one is the winner, in spite of it's steep price tag. I was worried that it would feel short in the body since the tall size wasn't available, but it feels good. It's pretty true to size. I'm a size 14-16 (and 5'10" tall) and the XL regular feels good on me. I was hoping that this would have a cinch at the waist, but it actually looks pretty good even without one. It's not too boxy looking like I had worried about. I love that there is no mesh lining inside like some have, which feels scratchy to me. This inner lining is soft. I almost went with a few other jackets that I liked as well, but the mesh lining in theirs was going to bother me too much, and I didn't want to have to always wear long sleeves to protect my arms, so I ultimately decided on this one for comfort and cuteness. The pockets are good, with an inner pocket that holds my large iphone plus. The sleeves are long enough, and it has a decent sized hood, although I wish it were deeper to keep my face more protected. It has all of the things I was looking for. The purple color is amazing, and is one of the reasons I am keeping this one (along with the lining), even at the $149 price tag (which is $100 more than the other ones I have tried out). Hopefully it will hold up well in the rain! EDIT: I've had this coat now for 5 years and it's still my very favorite coat ever! I find myself reaching for this in the winter time as well, even though it's not as warm as some of my other ones are. It's sturdy, keeps the rain off beautifully, is gorgeous (love the purple color) and is super comfortable. I see the price has gone down considerably since the first time I ordered it. I like the grey heather color, removable hood, inside pocket, two way zipper, and the fact that it is lightweight and waterproof. However, the fit is a bit awkward. I am a petite(5'1"), slender(114#) person. The size small came down to my knees and the waist is not adjustable, so is a bit snug even before wearing a sweater underneath. It seems to be sized for a 5'7", ultra skinny person. If you are a curvy person and need to size up, I'm thinking the sleeves would be too long. Sadly, I had to return. Read more

After reading reviews by other buyers talking about sizing issues, I bought 2 sizes (XL & XXL). Although XL fit better in the body, the shoulders were tight and restricted arm movement. So, although the size XXL is baggy/shapeless below the shoulders, I'm only keeping XXL. I'm more interested in being comfortable and the quality of the garment than I am about looking slimmer in the rain! The coat is well made. I'm 5'8" and 165 lbs. Read more
