I'm not too used to foil shavers, I usually have a simple routine with a disposable razor. I've dabbled with rotary electric razors and even gave a straight razor a shot, but I always go back to my simple standby, which gives me a close clean shave. I also use a bigger trimmer with changeable heads for getting my beard back to a standard length. Usually, I shave my neck clean and keep my cheeks trimmed to a short length, often going a few days at a time between touch-ups, getting a little stubble going, letting my cheeks length vary a bit. Now that it's getting chilly I'm inclined to let it all grow out a bit. Here's my bottom-line take on this foil shaver, practically speaking: It's pretty breezy to actually use it. Feels great in the hand, and it counters naturally to every angle I can think of, for just running over my neck and also getting up close to the trim line I keep around my jaw. The end result is a little more stubbly than I'm used to. I do kind of like the feeling of it, I could see myself making this a daily routine, perhaps. It's a matter of preference I think. And then it quickly seems like, ah, if I let my beard go for maybe three or so days, perhaps I'd need to trim it down before using the foil shaver. But would ya look at that, they put a handy little pop-up trimmer right on the back. It works very well. Definitely covers that exact case. I will note, I tried and failed to pop off the top of the unit to clean at first, and stopped because I didn't want to break anything. After watching the product video, which demonstrates just popping it off casually, I successfully gave it another go, but it wasn't as easy for me as the video shows. I think I just don't get a good grip on the finish of the shaver, it's kind of smooth and plastic-y (but doesn't feel cheap at all). I also think the charger could have been USB-C instead of a customized one, which would just be preferable and is increasingly standard on many things I own these days (including a few similar items). Given that all this is doing is charging a battery, it does seem like that was just a design choice that was made, it's not like a very particular voltage is needed here to power a motor or anything like that. I got through my first exploratory use of the device using about 8% of a full charge. Honestly I could see myself being quite quick with this in a routine and using <5% while still being thorough. My personal sense is that at $100, this device is a bit overpriced. A bit of an upcharge just for the appearance, maybe, which admittedly is quite nice, but I see some items for sale that seem very similar functionally (minus the pop-up trimmer) for less than half of that. Performance; As a foil design with 2‑speed control, it is best suited to daily or every‑other‑day facial shaving, light beards, and detail work using the pop‑up trimmer, not long, dense growth from scratch. Works pretty good right now. Especially at this price. I didn't expect much but, so far, so good. Comfort Wet/dry use and foil design typically gentler than rotary on skin. May require multiple passes on coarse or multi‑day growth. Convenience; Cordless, compact, waterproof, easy rinse cleaning. I decided to get away from costly blades and incorporate electric shavers into my daily routine. This foil shaver is effective but loud! So, it limits when and where I use it but it is good for travelling. Just be sure to use the travel lock feature because if this shaver comes on in you luggage it may cause some public concerns! LOL! However, you can get a quick shave and is durable. Great quality and value for the price. Also, the built-in trimmer is an added bonus. An all-in-one travel groomer! Read more
I'm not sure what to think about this. the shaver itself is not too bad. does what it claims to do right out of the gate, battery holds a charge, extra fold out trimmer head is a nice touch if you're going over a beard that's a little too long to get it with the foil. that's all fine and good. is this thing 100 dollars nice? no. not at all. the description claims to come with a travel pouch and a type c charge cord, but it doesn't it has a usb type A on one end, and a proprietary connector to the shaver itself on the other. it comes with no charging brick so you'll need to use one of your own. there's also no travel pouch in the box either. when you look closer at the listing it starts to contradict with conflicting pieces of information on what it actually comes with, which is annoying. the other concern is replacement foil heads when this one eventually dulls and stops catching hairs efficiently. there's no replacement in the box that it comes with despite it showing something similar in it's description video, and there appears to be no listing to purchase a replacement if needed. that's not worth a 100 dollar commitment in my opnion. shaver is good, but the weird misleading description and lack of replacement things really sours the whole impression. which is a shame because i have liked other things from this brand before. those things were also much cheaper than this is.
