I chose this Emerson microwave in 2016, 8 years ago, because it was the most powerful one I could buy with the smallish dimensions. I needed one that was only 10 inches high to fit into the space in my smallish kitchen. It's been a breeze to use. It has presets for 1 - 6 minutes, which I use most of the time, and also presets for 6 types of food, which I rarely use. It's easy to clean, operates quietly and is attractive. If it broke tomorrow, I would buy the same model Read more
UPDATE Dec 25, 2018. Below is my original review. I was thrilled! However, the microwave died yesterday after my daughter went to cook a Trader Joe's microwavable Chicken Pot PIe. I'm blaming the Chicken Pot PIe, but the microwave had been making sounds before, so, who knows. It lasted just over two years, so I guess I shouldn't complain. Originally I wanted to get a Panasonic Inverter microwave, but they got such mixed reviews with a lot of negative ones that I decided to keep on looking. I am very happy I found this Emerson. It replaces an old Emerson microwave of the same wattage and size - 900W - 9cu ft.- that I owned for over 15 years. The new Emerson MW9255B is very quiet (my old Emerson microwave was really loud.) I like that the light comes on when you open the door, as well as when you cook. While I don't cook a whole lot of meals via microwave I do cook vegetables and scrambled eggs and this microwave does just fine. All my microwave dishes and plates fit on the turntable, no problem. I shopped around a lot online and picked this one because I wanted black and I had a size issue with my built-in microwave cabinet - couldn't be too wide or too deep, plus my experience with my old Emerson made me rather inclined to stick with this brand. On top of that the reviews were good. People did complain about the door being hard to open. It is rather tight, but I just place my right thumb on the open button and grab the side with rest of my fingers and it pops open no problem (however, I am thinking of putting museum wax under the front feet to see it it will hold the microwave in place). I definitely recommend this microwave. Read more

A good choice for our kitchenette. I would chose a larger and more powerful one for our main kitchen. The only complaint I have has been mentioned by others. The button that must be pressed to open the door requires enough force that the microwave would slide back on the counter when the door needs to be opened. In our case, it is up against a wall but I can see how this could be a problem for others. Read more
I have previously owned Emerson microwaves for years. I finally needed to update so I purchased this model. No matter what we tried, There Was No Heat!! Also, the directions for use are a hodge podge of confusion!! How difficult could it be to heat something??? Table turned, clock was functioning, etc, but no heat at all! Also....the child lock was annoying. We decided to return. We had thrown out the original box, so to return we went to the UPS store and paid $10 for a box, $3 for inside packing materials, and the $2 service fee. Annoying experience. We just purchased another brand which is easy to use, clear instructions, simple child lock direction, and great performance!! If you do purchase and it works well, great!! But, as a suggestion, with all purchases keep the original box and packing, just in case you have issues! Read more
I've noticed that it heat microwave dinners really quick and burns popcorn...lol The door it very hard to open, but noticed you have to push it in the middle. Yes, it does move around when opening and closing. I'm always thinking how to adjust putting certain foods in so they don't burn, esp. TV dinners. Still have to figure out the popcorn, lol Read more

A nice affordable microwave. It does make a little extra noise when starting up which is normal for this model. I can recommend this unit. Do not ever try to remove the cover on the inside right for cleaning or any other reason.......you may not be able to get it back on. Read more
