This pill cutter may work well for most people, but for my particular needs it is actually less useful than the older style cutters with a single top blade. I have two cats on medication, and their tablets are quite small (about 1/4 inch in diameter). To yield the correct dose, each tablet needs to be cut into quarters. This splitter does fine making the first cut - splitting the tablet into two halves - but does not work for splitting the halves into quarters. The half-moon shape of each half tablet no longer fits securely into the part of the cutter designed to hold it. At that point I have to revert to the older style splitter, which will (with some fussing) hold and split a half-moon shape. Also, although the spring mechanism of this device is cleverly designed to hold the pill snugly, I have found it to be a bit fiddly. Lastly, when the pill is in place and the top of the cutter positioned to press down to make the cut, there is a fair bit of wobble which can lead to slightly uneven splitting. The bottom line, based on my experience, is if you need to split tablets only in half, this cutter may work fine for you. Judging from the many positive reviews, it seems to work well for most. I purchased this Equadose pill splitter and honestly it works great. Whoever thought of this was a genius. I have a very rare disease on my hands that’s extremely painful and I couldn’t snap my pills anymore. This pill splitter is a great tool that everyone should use if they have finger/hand pain or drops pills when splitting. You pull the plastic piece out a little bit, add the pill, push the plastic piece in (the pill lines up to center), and add the top which has the razor blade to cut it accurately. I’ve tried it on numerous size pills and it always works well. I highly recommend this pill splitter and I will purchase a second one for the just in case I lose it or need to replace it. I have to cut small pills into quarters for my cat and have tried several pill cutters. This one is the best so far. First, compared to other cutters I've used, this one has the best centering device for small pills. Second, the dual-blade design makes the cleaner cuts then single blades on hinges. These features combined make it possible to take a small pill, cut it in half, use a toothpick to turn it 90°, then cut it into roughly equal quarters. So far I've only used it a few times so I can't speak to how well I will wear with use, but so far it's made my cat's routine a little easier and I'm thankful for that. Read more

This works great for the incredibly small pills I need to cut in half. The pill gets held into place on both sides so it doesn't move. And apparently the kicker for this cutter is that is has blades on the top AND bottom to prevent crumbling. I'm very pleased with this product! Read more
