This camera lights on a whole different level compared to my previous system (from a very popular brand that shall remain unnamed, iykyk). This one is way more intuitive, easier to manage, and just feels smarter overall. Super easy for a non-tech savvy gal like me. First of all the video quality? Perf. The nighttime looks like daytime. Love the motion sensor light. My husband comes home late at night from his job and will typically be wheeling the trashcan to the curb in the dark, this lights him up the whole way which makes me feel better. Bonus points that I can toggle on and off basically EVERYTHING with this camera, something my old system severely lacked on. It’s crisp and you can actually see what’s going on instead of grainy blobs. The motion detection is also much better. I’m not getting spammed every time my flowers sway in a breeze, which is such a relief. No monthly fees is the straight up cherry on top, i got SO tired of paying monthly fees on the other brand. Local storage, expandable options, easy app control it just works. Setup was smooth, everything feels premium, and I finally feel like my home security is actually secure instead of hoping for the best. Couldn’t be happier with my experience as a whole. There is a tiny lag when opening an event but its so miniscule it does not bother me, plus it is recording the whole time so no capturing worries. I really like this cam, I wanted something outside the ring world that didn’t have a subscription attached to get any real use out of it. It took around 30 minutes to setup including setting up Wi-Fi and the initial update it needed. Charges well even on the edge of the carport, only gets about 1-3 hours of direct light, stays 90%+. App is user friendly and free, although you can donate towards development if you choose. The AI that runs the event notifications is really good from what I’ve seen so far, no redundant notifications for cars rolling by or other neighborhood randomness. Update: I purchased the eufy security Solar wall light camera in November 2023, and come December 2024 it had stopped charging even in adequate sunlight. I unscrewed it from the wall mount, brought it inside and charged it back to 100% using the cable, put it back outside on the mount and it’s been slowly draining down and not charging from the solar panel even in adequate sunlight for more than 2 hours a day. It most likely has been due to the extreme low temps this winter. Beginning in mid January it has been slowly charging back up. A little more every day the weather was above 30 degrees. I suspect that by summer it will be back to regularly charging. Will update again in a few months. Original review: I purchased the eufy security solar wall light camera about 10 months ago. I wanted a camera and light that didn’t need to be wired. It’s been through 1 winter, spring and summer and still functions as well as the day it was installed. The trick is installing it in the right spot with good direct sunlight, not blocked by trees or fences. It sits in sun for about 5 hours which seems ample for recharging it when it dips below 90%. The solar light is bright for the crawl space area. The image is clear and it is set for triggering human movement only and it has worked perfectly, no false triggers. The only problem was trying to mount it at an angle and have it light and see the area desired. It doesn’t come with an angled mount (like the angle mount the eufy doorbell comes with) so I had to make it up. Seemed a little cheapy for the price but I use the Eufy system and needed a light and camera in a place with no power access but plenty of Sun. The Solar Power gets enough sun to stay charged even on overcast days in the Midwest. Never has it ran out of power, light is strong enough to find keys and stuff, reminds me of about a 60 watt light bulb outside. Camera and features work perfectly once you understand what it's capable of. I use the Ai feature to recognize my pets, and family members, notifications can be modified with that information. It's an impressive solution at a very reasonable price. Even with only 1/2 day of sun light it seems to have enough power to work 24/7. Not an interruption in 6 months. Winter will be a big test.
