I'm not really sure if I'd consider these microfiber towels. I'm not great with fabrics, so perhaps they are, but they don't have the soft fluffiness of what I typically expect microfiber towels to have (like the ones you use for cleaning). That said, these towels are well made, soft, and absorbs all of the sweat I get from a hot yoga class, so they work for my needs. That said, I ONLY recommend these if you're taking a hot/bikram class where you're doing static poses. If you're trying to use them with a flow yoga class, you'll slip and slide (unless you either wet the towels or your hands and feet).
