I've seen a lot hospital over-bed tables and feared this would be like those, jerky to raise and lower, loud and rattley, and no other way to say it other than "ugly". I was surprised to find how much nicer this one is, while it has a similar purpose it feels less like it belongs in a hospital. It moves up and down very smoothly and the height makes it usable as a woking desk even for people in the high 5 foot low 6 foot range! Great for use as a standing desk, and to put an end to the awkward holding a laptops on laps or pillows which watching something in bed. Be forewarned, it is quite heavy. I will say that for over $300 they should have made the base bar silver/metallic rather than gray plastic, which brings it back into the medicinal aesthetic. I think of this as a โhospital table,โ since itโs similar to the ones you see in patient rooms, but itโs far nicer than any of those. It lowers enough to use comfortably from the couch and raises high enough to work while standing. I plan to get a walking pad and use this as a standing desk for my laptop, and it seems perfect for that. The pneumatic height adjustment is smooth and effortless, and the wheels roll easily across both our vinyl plank floors and our throw rugs. The locking brakes keep it securely in place once positioned. The only drawback is that the tabletop doesnโt tilt, but the height range gives you so much flexibility that I havenโt had any trouble finding a comfortable working angle. Itโs a bit pricier than typical hospitalโstyle tables, but it also seems a lot sturdier than the cheaper ones I've looked at. The surface is smooth, easy to clean, and so far has resisted stains, including the cranberry juice and coffee that somehow ended up knocked over. I originally bought it for our spare room for when my elderly MIL visits, but itโs turned out to be far more useful than expected and now lives in our living room. My SIL just went through double masectomy surgery, and was really unable to get out of bed. This table was an absolute game changer for her while her mobility was challenged. It is incredibly sturdy, raises and lowers very smoothly, with no catching, is very sleek and ergonomic, and is just a nice quality product. As she recovers, I'm sure my brother will be able to use this as a standing desk. Its a little on the heavy side (77 lb) so you probably will need someone strong to move it about your home to get it set up. My brother did this, and he said it was super easy to put together. My only complaint is that it does not have a spot for a drink; which feels like a critical miss. Putting drinks next to electronics, as she was doing, always feels dicey. So 4* for that. Read more
I have owned two different versions of this type/style of table. This one is by far the best Overbed Table I have owned. The wheels are great, they roll on carpet well. The design is well thought out, I really like that it extends to chest height. I was able to put this together with no issues. It's a little heavy, but very doable. There aren't many individual pieces. The table portion is long and thin, it's great for hanging over a bed or futon. I personally needed a place to put my IPad, drink, and food. This fits the bill nicely. The color is visually pleasing and the workmanship is great, there are no paint chips or weird parts that stick out. The action on the lever is nice, you just put your weight on it in order to press it down. It goes up really really high, so you could use it with a laptop as a mini-standing desk. This came extremely well packed--as in double boxed, double-wall corrugated box with reinforced corners and a LOT of foam. Honestly if this fell off a truck the desk would probably be just fine. I was surprised how heavy it is--over 30 pounds. I don't have a problem with it but some people might have difficulty getting this up or down stairs when assembled. It was very easy to assemble and I appreciate the extra screws. The height adjustment is easy to use and works well but with a minimum height of about 31 inches is fairly high. The listing mentions "medical-grade" wheels but these seem to be common cheap plastic casters. The reason I deducted a star is because the aluminum is COMPLETELY unfinished. That's pretty rare for furniture and even feels weird. It marks easily and this one already had blemishes (like tape marks) that wouldn't come off right out of the box. I really liked this bedside table. It is adjustable, solid and sturdy. It does not wobble, unlike other bed tables. That's due in part to the weight and heft of the table, and in part due to a great design. You can easily adjust the height by pressing on the lever on the side of the top. It was easy to assemble. It came with two hex wrenches and spare screws. It is a bit heavy. I also appreciate how well packed it was. It came as a box within a box, with bracing on all eight edges. The interior packaging was also high quality without any messy bits. Despite the long cantilever, the table top is sturdy, even at the far end. The laminate surface is easy to clean. Despite the high cost, it provides very good value for the money. You get what you pay for. I was really impressed. Read more
