Original formula seems to be back. They changed the formula to one that was horrible and I stopped using this brand. Then it went back to the original formula after checking it out at a grocery shop and it works great again. I apply a decent amount to make sure I am covered and towel dry so it doesnt make shirts feel wet. Does not stain shirts from my experience like other deodarants did. Originally I switched to this from Mitchum brand. I like this a lot better because Mitchum stained my shirts white in the pits area. Smell is pleasing. Citrus smell can be a little strong. Cedar is my second favorite. Mint 3rd. I need a good deodarant that is strong and this one works great. Tom’s of Maine did not work for me. Failed halfway through the day. Read more
Guys, having never purchased EMJ deodorants before and seeing all the complaints about burning, irritation, clear vs. white stick, etc. I decided to contact EMJ before making a purchase. They confirmed that all these reports were due to bad batches and that they have RESOLVED these issues. I then proceeded to purchase a stick of sandalwood. I can confirm I received a clear stick and that there is no burning, irritation and it smells and works great! One of the best aluminum free deodorants I've used, and it is everything I was hoping it would be and definitely lives up to the EMJ brand, great smelling scents at an affordable price. Read more
I have used EMJ deodorant for years and purchased it at a well known walk-in store. I saw this online and thought I would safe money. When it arrived, I noticed it was a different formula - not the semi-clear gel(ish) I was used to, but a new chalky, powdery style. Hmmmmm, it appeared that EMJ had changed their formula, but I was willing to give it a try. After using it, I experienced the same adverse reactions as other users. I was disappointed, and frankly, concerned as to whether or not I had purchased a fraudulent product. UPDATE. I contacted the company to see if they had changed their formula. Yes they had. BUT, they have since returned to the original formula. So, 5 stars or 1 star? I love the original formula - that of the semi-clear, gel(ish) formula. Five stars all the way. Excellent product. But the deodorant with the chalky, powdery formula is only a one star product. It was physically irritating and I had an adverse reaction to it. I applaud EMJ for taking into account their customers concerns and views. Thank you much, everyone at EMJ. Caveat to any buyer, I would suggest if you receive the chalky, powdery formula, it’s old and out of date and not what the company now sells. Read more
I changed this 6/8/18 to one star. I thought my arms were dry one day, and apparently they were not. I got such a bad rash/burn under my arms that I could hardly lift one of them. I think that if this is going to be an issue, it needs to be clearly stated on the bottle or in the description on Amazon. Buyer beware. You can read my original review below. ------------ I'm giving this 4 stars because it does what it says. It's a natural deodorant. The smell is nice, and it won't stain your clothes. Cons: 1. Some people have wrote that they hate this product because it burns your armpits. It is because they are putting it on right out of the shower when their pits are still damp. They have to be completely dry. Completely. Not just towel dry. I'm talking blow-dryer dry. 2. It doesn't last 24 hours. It's all natural and doesn't have harsh chemicals, so you shouldn't expect it to work the same as other store brands. I find that it gets me through a work day, but if I'm going out that evening, I will have to wash and reapply. 3. You have to wash it off with soap and a cloth. If you don't , you may have residual odor from the previous day. Read more

I get what people mean about this deodorant online being different then in store like it does irritate me too ONLY if used in excess. 3 swipes each pit is good and i have sensitive skin bros so please try less and see if it helps.. i love the cedarwood and sandalwood one but SWERVE from that "fresh scent" aka powder ugh Read more
My guess is your expectations will determine your satisfaction with this product. Personally, it being "natural" was not of particular interest to me -- I was just after some deodorant that smelled like sandalwood. Does this smell like sandalwood? Well, I think so. Frankly, I have a number of products (lotion, aftershave, soap, etc) that all claim to be sandalwood scented, and they all smell different. I'm not sure I even know exactly what sandalwood -- real sandalwood -- smells like. That said, all of the products are in the same olfactory family, at least in my opinion. That said, as far as being a deodorant goes, I found this product leaves something to be desired. I'd only been using it a few days when I noticed that as I was getting dressed for bed at night (meaning I was raising arms over head to remove shirts), I was noticing my pits stank. That had never been an issue with any of my traditional, non(un?)-natural deodorants. I actually still use this because I like the smell, but I also first apply a traditional deodorant. Read more
