Great for Catcher

ChrisMarch 29, 2026✓ Verified purchase

The EvoShield thumb guard has been a great addition for my 13-year-old catcher. It gives his thumb extra protection without being too bulky or uncomfortable, which is important with how much wear and tear catchers take. He’s able to catch, receive, and handle the ball normally without feeling like it gets in the way. From a parent perspective, it adds some peace of mind knowing he has a little more protection on a spot that can take a lot of abuse during games and practice. Overall, it’s been a simple but worthwhile piece of gear for a young catcher. Read more

Great Protection – Follow the Instructions!

LCJuly 10, 2025✓ Verified purchase

This thumb guard really does its job, but here’s my advice—don’t ignore the directions like I did! The packaging clearly says not to open the foil until you’re ready to mold it. I opened it a little too early thinking my husband would help with the fitting, but we ended up rushing through it. Thankfully, it still worked out fine. The guard is very stiff and offers solid protection. We had a catching incident recently, and this has definitely helped boost my child’s confidence behind the plate. I’ve already recommended it to several other families whose kids have had similar issues as catchers. Definitely worth it for added peace of mind! Read more

Horrible- didn't mold properly

M.H.June 10, 2024✓ Verified purchase

I'm now out $50 as we've tried to get 2 to mold to my son's thumb. We watched videos online, multiple of them, to make sure we knew what to do before we tried the first one. It didn't work well at all. Ordered another, maybe I did something wrong... watched more videos. Wrapped tighter to ensure a good mold... didn't work. This sucks! These are not cheap to try again. I'm already out 2 molds that don't work. Don't waste your time unless you have figured out what the trick is... Also, I watched a video on how to remold it... soaking it in 175 degree water and then putting it back on my son's thumb sounds like an awesome way to burn the crap out of him to where he can't catch at all... There's gotta be a better way... Read more

Had to purchase an additional one because there isn’t any really good directions on how to do the fitting. But once you know that it works well. Read more

Don't get Thumbed!!!!

David MJune 1, 2025✓ Verified purchase

Seems to be working really well. My son has started getting serious about catching and is getting all his gear together. In one practice he mentioned getting "thumbed." I had no idea this was a thing. We went online and found this setup. Instructions were clear and getting it to form to his thumb worked great. He says it makes closing the glove easier also.
