I have two children and one of them is special needs. I tend to have difficulties getting a thermometer that is accurate and easy to use. This thermometer is PERFECT. Both of my children are COMPLETELY unbothered and it’s accurate every time. The LED light makes for easy middle of the night “just to be sure” temp checks. 10/10 would DEFINITELY recommend for adults and children. Read more

The first one I compared it to a hospital one made by the same company Exergen! I had that one from 2005 till recently I was finally having problems with it. I had bought it for my grandma originally! Lol My baby gets uti's cuz of health issues and her temperature spikes up out of nowhere and my old one wasn't giving me the correct temperature vs an oral one I just bought for back up. This one is works great. I compared it with my oral thermometer and the hospital one again and it was reading as closely to that both! I love it so I can check her temperature fast and easy so that she won't be bothered by it. (She's not 2 yet so getting a temperature is not easy especially at a young age!!!) This works great once you figure out how to use it, which is not as obvious as I thought it would be. I kept getting stuck in memory mode and the instructions are not helpful to get out, once I figured out it needs to be off before placing it on the forehead to take a reading. I love it now but was very close to returning it because when you have a sick screaming child it is very frustrating to not know how to make the thermometer work. Also a weird angle for taking a temp on your self but does work accurately once your able to take a reading. Read more

This is the second exergen we have purchased. The first died after 9 years of use. I will admit that I do have to take a few scans each time I use it, as naturally with the way this works, the temp will vary because of user variability. Overall it is accurate and best of all, no need to wake kids to get their temp. This is also quiet so it won't wake kids in the process. Read more

We were gifted one for our oldest and needed to replace after many years. We made the mistake of falling for the hype of multi-mode and new features and tried alllll the new ones, including Baby Frida. None of them gave the same reading twice even if taken back to back. Never had an issue with Exergen so we bought another and it has been just as fantastic as our 2015 was. Don't waste your time and money on the other popular brands. Bought this over a year ago. The battery has finally died. However, I cannot get the cover for the battery compartment off. I have officially shredded my fingers trying to do so. My husband busted out his tools to try to get the thing off. And neither one of us can. I love this thermometer, it’s the second one I’ve owned (my oldest is 11). But i have a 3 yo with a fever and can’t change the battery because I can’t get the cover off. So I’m really not being happy with that. I also now require some bandaids after the damage it did to my hands with trying to get the cover off. Read more
