Expandable Deluxe Tote

I am so enthused about this bag I just had to write a review, even though I only write a review for a tiny percentage of my purchases! After receiving this bag, right before flying out on a 4-day trip, I started loading it up, thinking it wouldn't quite be big enough for the changes of clothes I will need for different activities. But everything I laid out fit into it, and I could even stuff a little more in! And after I zipped it closed, I was easily able to zip close the extension even, making it slightly smaller. My laptop fit well into it's section; I do wish the outer side had a little more padding. The small front pocket is nice for small items, chargers, and for the liquids bag so I can easily pull it out when going through security. There is an elastic strap on the outside back that fits over the handle of a rolling luggage. Even tho I'm able to leave the roller at home this time, I had to try it, and it worked great. As others have mentioned, the strap has 2 positions but is not otherwise adjustable. The length will work really well for me, but what I don't like is that, when connecting the 2 short pieces to make 1 longer strap, the buckle is in the middle of the strap, so it sits right on my shoulder, or on my neck if I put the strap over my head. Something like a sliding padded pocket on the straps to cover the buckles would be nice, especially because it can get a little heavy, with all the stuff it will hold. It's just ok. I find it way too small for an optimal carry-on bag, even when fully unzipped. Unfortunately, I listened to other reviewers and got this bag in small size (16 ")-- should have ordered a size up for it to usable as a carry-on bag. Read more

I just took this bag with me for my international travel for work, which is very frequent. Had been using a standard luggage tote, but needed something more lightweight with more compartments. Had the following requirements: 1) separate compartment for 15" laptop for easy in-out passing thru security (I use a laptop sleeve for protection) 2) separate compartment for travel necessities (lotions, food, sweater, sleep stuff, ipod, headphones, laptop stuff, eyeglasses, etc) 3) front pocket area for storage of smaller items that need quick access (travel docs, passport, wallet, cell) 4) straps needed to be long enough to go over my shoulder easily, even wearing a winter coat 5) something super lightweight and durable. This bag fit the bill. There was a ton of extra space even without using the expanded section. After plane travel, I used it as my laptop bag during my trip. The only drawbacks were: 1) Because material is so lightweight, it has no structure. When filled with stuff it's no problem, but if it's pretty empty it will fall over. No big deal for me because being lightweight was more critical. Actually, the lack of structure helps with underseat storage since it's not a rigid shape and can conform as needed. 2) The yellow straps make this look kind of like a gym bag. Would have loved them to be all black to look more professional, but again not a big deal for me. 3) The yellow straps can also be unclipped and hooked together to create one long strap, but its not adjustable - bag falls down past my hip when I do this since I'm short. No big deal since the double strap option is just the right length for me anyway. Overall the the bag met my needs at an great price point. Seems pretty durable. I have been looking for a non-rolling bag with multiple compartments, to replace a really old one that wore out. These days, most luggage is roll-a-boards or bags with one big compartment. I was traveling to Mexico for a week at the beach and had to fly Spirit. This bag was the exact required dimensions for a free carry on. It holds an amazing amount of clothes, more than I needed, plus my flippers, mask and snorkel. Quality made, well designed, good looking. There is no padding and the material is thin, so it is light and roomy. Not many partitions, no little pockets in the interior to hold odds and ends. The strap can be short for hand held carrying or on shoulder with the bag right in the arm pit, or you can undo the straps and attach them into a long shoulder strap to have the bag at waist level. I'm afraid I didn't pay attention to the size of this bag when I ordered it. It's a good bag, but a bit too small for what I needed when traveling. Next time I will take out my measuring tape. Read more
