Easy setup—plugged in and it was recognized quickly. Great for installing older software, playing DVDs, or ripping discs when your laptop doesn’t have a drive anymore. Compact and portable, and the USB-C connection is convenient for newer devices. Read more

I needed this for my MacBook since it doesn’t have a disc drive, and it worked right out of the box, just plug and play. I used it to install some older software and also to watch a DVD, and it handled both without issues. The design is slim and easy to store when not in use. The cord could be a little longer, but that’s my only real complaint. For anyone who still has a stack of discs lying around, this is a solid, affordable option Read more
I’d like to say the CD drive works great! I had an old CD with family photos that was barely readable via externalized CD readers from old MacBooks (photos took forever to transfer, would randomly stop due to read issues, and would copy all corrupted), and this device read the disc just fine! I was also able to have two flash drive and an SD card readable at the same time. Lastly, the USB cable can also power the device, so no need to hook up the power connector and chew up an extra USB spot on the computer. Some nitpicks though: first, the cable is directly connected to the CD drive, so if that cable fails, the whole device is useless. Second, the SD card sticks out a bit further than I’m comfortable with, even though it’s on the back of the drive (see picture for reference). Lastly, it didn’t seem that I could connect a microSD and regular SD at the same time. Whatever card was inserted first would be read, and not the other. Still giving the product five stars as these issues are highly situational and not a big deal. Read more

I needed a DVD/CD player for my computer and I got WAY more than I expected with this drive! Not only does it read DVD's and CD's it burns them! How cool is that?! It's 1999 all over again LOL. I just wanted something to read old DVD video discs from Sears photo studio and this was all plug and play, with not compatibility issues, it works better than expected. Quality feels good and solid as well. Definitely the best value for my money. Read more
From the beginning (two months ago) every other DVD episode I watched skipped - due to "damaged disk" - Please note, these DVDs are brand new, out of the package. For the $22 purchase price, I tolerated having to rewind small portions of an individual episode every so often. But in recent days, the DVDs randomly stop playing, so I must eject the disk, and / or unplug the connecting cable to my MacBook Pro, in order to resume viewing. And now today, it's taken me an hour to watch 30 minutes worth of an episode that I cannot finish. At this point, I officially give up. Heck, I'll pay more than $22 for a DVD player if I know it's going to work reasonably well, but I'm having difficulty determining if that product exists. Note: I did not use any of the other functions besides watching DVDs. Read more
