The perfect acrylic paint pen set? Pretty damn close. Let's start with the positives, because I want you to be as amped as I am about this set! Pros: •Huge variety •Dual brush and fine tips •The fine tip is actually fine, about 1mm •Tips hold their shape well •Colors dry fast but not too fast to be able to blend. •No odor •No smudging once dry •Opaque, consistant covering •Metallics •Price point is lower than majority of other sets available (take my word, I spent weeks researching), with having a higher pen count, dual tips, and a satisfying array of colors •The pens are already primed and ready to use immediately •Sturdy caps Are you stoked yet? I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but if I'm going to be completely transparent here, I can't leave out the cons. Don't worry, they're brief and few in number (honestly!) Cons: •Pens have no numbering or name system •They trays they come in are somewhat flimsy •The colors are not organized That wasn't so bad, right? I realize that most of the issues are really my own neurotic opinions, but I'm sure (hoping) that there are other artists with the same thinking as me out there somewhere. I am an artist and I was thrilled when I saw this amazing set of acrylic markers. I have been busy for three days playing with them on various surfaces. First off, these markers come in a sturdy box, suitable for storing. There are a total of six plastic trays, each holding 22 markers, for a total of 132 markers in the set. There is a great selection of colors, including some pearl/metallic colors. The markers fit my hand well, and they are easy to grasp and maneuver. Each marker has two tips, one on each end. One tip is fine and creates smooth lines, the other tip is a brush tip. Both tips flow smoothly, and the brush tip does allow for easily painting/coloring a larger area. The set also comes with 10 replacement tips. The lids snap on securely to protect the pens from drying out. These markers dry quickly and they are opaque. I found if I made a mistake, I could paint over it and correct the error. If you get a little paint on your hands, as I did, no worries, it easily washes off. Best of all, these are mess free and odorless. In working with them, some of the colors are simply not as dark or vibrant as I expected; especially the reds. Many of the colors seem to be the same value so I had to work to get adequate contrast when painting a poinsettia on a wooden Christmas ornament. This was a learning curve, and I figured out to highlight with pinks and lighter colors. I tried these markers on different surfaces, as follows: PAPER: I drew some flowers on watercolor paper. The colors flow on the paper as expected and they do not “bleed” if you leave the marker on the paper too long. However, I learned i needed to be somewhat gentle as being too rough did cause the watercolor paper to pill some. Other than that, these are terrific for drawing, sketching, and painting on paper. WOOD: These markers worked great to decorate a flat, plain wooden DIY ornament. There wasn’t any hesitation or problems, the paint flowed on fine. The paint did not smear and dried quickly and appears to be permanent. CANVAS: While I did not try it, I am familiar with canvas and I am pretty confident they will work fine on canvas. ROCK: I had the best time painting ladybugs on a small fairly smooth river rock. Even though the surface was a little rough, the paint went on fine, and dried quickly. Once I finished with my ladybug design, and it was dry, I gently washed it, dried it, and the paint appears to be permanent. GLASS: I drew a design on a clean dry glass jar. These markers can paint on glass. That said, the paint is NOT permanent. Once my design was finished, I could dust it lightly with a cloth without removing the paint. But I tried a drop of water, and the paint slid right off the glass. Also, it easily scratches off the glass. While I didn’t try it, I suspect glazed and fired ceramic would react the same. A final note: I do wish the set contained extra white and black markers. These are the colors that will likely be most frequently used. That said, this is a wonderful and impressive set and I will enjoy drawing and doodling and painting with them! This is a five star set of markers, but I did deduct one star because these do not seem to bond permanently on glass as advertised. I got these for my daughter for her birthday. And she has not shout up about them since, she loves coloring with them. I myself cannot speak to the precise quality but every picture she brings me looks adorable. It's a really good amount for the prize. I definitely wouldn't pass up, trying them out. Read more

These are nice paint pens. There's no shaking, pumping or priming necessary; just pop off the cap and go. The color range is lovely and it includes a generous selection of METALLICS! The opacity is top notch. For those who like to use paint pens in adult coloring books to cover the existing linework, look no further. These will cover black lines in just one pass. The brush tip is good; what I would consider medium firmness. Oh, and speaking of which, this set comes with a whole bunch of extra nibs for both the fine end and the brush end! That's a great bonus! The cardboard storage box in comes in is fairly sturdy and there are multiple stacked plastic trays inside to help you keep your pens in order. The only negative about this set is that there's no color name or number on the pens, so if that's important to you, you're going to have to provide your own labeling system. I use tiny blank labels from the brand Avery to number my un-numbered/named supplies, and then I put a piece of tape over the label to make sure it stays put. A swatch chart (whether pre-labeled or not) would have also been nice, but that may have been one more thing that was purposely left out to keep the final cost down. All these little details don't seem like much, but they do add up in the production process and in the end, that cost gets passed down to you and I - the consumers.
