I have purchase this 9 months ago, since each one lasted for 3 months or even a little longer. The water flow is a very steady stream of water about a normal drinking straw form McDonalds. I does last at 3 months with the light going amber and then I let it go until it turned red a couple of weeks later. The is differently the cheapest set of 3 that I have found that has been very effective filtering the water in my apartment drinking water. I fits perfectly too with no issues installing. This is a good replacement generic filter. Fits perfectly and was installed in less than 1 minute. I let the water run in filtered mode for 5 minutes like the instructions say to do. The first thing I noticed when I tuned the faucet off was that for the first time since I bought my PUR unit a year ago the water actually stopped right away. I have been using PUR filters up until today. With the PUR filters the water always kept running at a trickle when I turned off the faucet. It would run for a good 30 to 35 seconds. Finally the water stops right away. I do notice that when filtered the water has a higher amount coming out of the faucet with this generic filter. But I do not notice any difference in taste of the water from the PUR filters. This is a great replacement filter that seems to work better than than the PUR filters I have been using. The water looks and tastes the same. And finally the water stops coming out of the faucet when I shut it off. For what I paid for these along with the quality I will continue to buy these. Good job! Edit For those saying the red light stays on after putting in this new filter you need to reset the light. Look inside the PUR unit. You will see a white or clear plastic piece that you can push down with your finger. Press it down and hold it down while watching the light. The light will blink from red and green two times. The light then turns off. When it turns off the light is reset. You can then put the new filter into the unit. You will now have a green light when your filtered water is turned on. These instructions are not included with the replacement filters. But the instructions are included with the PUR unit when it was purchased. Good luck. Read more

Make sure you read the instructions. Like running the water through the filter for a period of minutes and making sure you replace them every so many months. It was easy to install and easy to remove with a little bit of a pull. Read more
